Yo Driver - You can't park.
-
Hypothetical: Can I drive over someone if he was trying to attack or grab me from the outside? Would I be criminally responsible?
-
Lyft drivers can rate passengers later? That's a horrible idea!
Lyft drivers can now rate and leave feedback for their passengers well after the trip is over. i think this … -
Are Sundays bad days to work as Lyft and Uber drivers?
New driver here. I heard that Sundays are not good days to work as Uber drivers, because people sleep in, … -
What is the difference between Uber's Booking Fee and Service Fee?

Why do so many Uber users cancel immediately after the driver has accepted?
This is a question from a new driver to Uber users. I spoke to a few other drivers, and apparently …
I assume this is a question from a passenger. Where you'd expect us to park. Big parking lots, but in somewhat populated areas. This usually ends up being places like Target, mall outsided of cafeteria, etc.
We don't leave the cars as much as you'd think we do. I do stop by at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts or something, but besides relieving myself, I don't really hang in there or have meals. (plus, we make very little money, remember?)
I don't mean to speak for everyone, but I do end up eating at Fast Foods a lot. It's just convenient. With how long our shifts are, it's not always practical to pack our own lunches.
T-Rabit mentioned the odd hours, but I will add the crazy number of hours to the list.
This isn't a 40 hour job either. It's more like a 50~60 hour jobs with shifts that last 12~14 hours. The reason is because hourly pay is horrendous. It's partially because majority of the time is spent waiting for fares and driving to pick up the fares. (and we don't get paid for those times.
With long hours and crappy hours, it's a double combo. I have had friends (yes, multiple) whose wives have either left or cheated on them due to this awful working hours. I'd like to blame the wives but I also emphasize because the guys weren't even there for them.
How do I get one.
only the bottom lights up, huh.
I looked into it once but they didn't serve where I live. I believe there are one-time setup fees of like a 100 bucks. After that, there's a small monthly fee like $20, and then the rest is 3% of all your rids.
I did hear that they do nickle and dime you. I saw ZipCar on how it's like $15 a day but they also have fees and stuff that jacks it up. I don't know if these companies make money, but they obviously cannot run a business on $15 a day. LOL.
If it's gonna take 15 minutes, just complete the ride and start over. Be considerate of our time. There are plenty of us around. No need to hold on to us causing us to miss out on other rides.
What have you got to lose? The flagdrop, the initial fee? That's only a few bucks. 15 minute waittime would cover that, so you didn't lose out on anything.
"That would depend on the personality of the driver, but my guess would be that you're not getting lower ratings for not talking, but rather for being seen as being uncaring."
Sound analysis. I agree.
Sure, I do prefer the passengers wear seatbelts, but I don't get mad to the point I give negative ratings. I do see plenty of people not buckling up, and I have never given a downvote.
I drive 6 days a week and I have never had a day where every one tipped LOL.
You are my hero.
Tell me one thing, because I want to be like you. Do they leave a retaliatory ratings? Complaints to Uber, etc.? I hate coming across as a pushover, but that's the primary reason I can't do or say the things you do.
Yeah, I appreciate Uber's attempt to make it easier and lowering the bar of entry into driving, but the complete lack of training is a bit freaky. Sure, their claim is that "it's so easy anyone can do it" but I remember when I got my Uber approval, I felt very lost. ...like, "wha... that's it? Should I get some kind of training? reading material? I just go out there? I got a million questions."
I have to admit. The first ride I gave was to my wife. Dead serious. I made her get the phone out, I got online, and had her request one, which I quickly accepted. The funny thing? She was busy with the kids, so she didn't even come on the ride. I just drove "her" (or her cell phone to be more precise) to a nearby convenience store. LOL
Oooooh yeah. this one is super popular.
When I was a taxi driver, I occasionally got it but not nearly as much. With Uber, it's almost without a fail. It must be because it is relatively new?
Racists passengers, man. Don't get me started. ...but I do get it. My name sounds like a terriorist. No denying there.
I am not sure if I get more cancellations than others or not. Driving in NYC, most other UberBlack drivers have Middle East terrorist names, so I don't feel like I stand out.
selling whatever Lyft sends them as "incentives."

Ridiculous. All they have to do is to promise to change. They are all in bed together.
$0.15 is a lot, man. With the profit on a short ride being like $2.00, $0.15~25 expense on every customer is just way too much.
I think it makes sense if you work for the establishment and consider it as full time. You take the waiting around and driving aimlessly out of the equation. Trust me. Making $3 to driving a box of warm salad is not viable. I tried
Gosh, I hate people too. Taking customer service out of your day sounds awesome
I'd like to say it's a great idea, but honestly, I think you'll make nothing. Driving people's food proved to be way less than diving whole peoples.
because we need to live!!!
I was thinking the same thing. I was in the camp of thinking this will be disruptive, but if it'll get me out of super short trips and super lazy people, I am all for it.
Give me those cross town trips!
Great question, and there are great answers out there. here's mine:
Change surge pricing so it is based on where the rider is going (i.e destinatino) rather than where the rider already is. The passenger should be responsible for taking drivers out to remote areas far away from the actions.
This solves the dead leg problem. Drivers shouldn't have to driver super far away. If he is taken to a remote area, why should they be punished.
