7 people need a ride tomorrow Sunday round trip around 1:30pm. Will UberXl work for Us? We're going to Chicago downtown for a late lunch. Returning to our start location around 5 or 6pm.

UberSUV and UberXL guarantee you with 6
UberXL and UberSUV provide enough space for 6 passengers, and this does not consider for luggage either. Then again, if you happen to get a large car, you may be ok. it seems people have better luck with uberSUV (The more luxurious service), as it often calls upon cars like Suburbans and Escalades which have third-row seats and 7 seats.

and by "XLR", you mean the Cadillac XLR, yes, they are available on Uber SUV. and yes they do have 7 seating capacity.
That doesn't mean they will take 7 passengers though. The driver can refuse 7 people from getting on. There is no obligation to carry more than the capacity. Plus, insurance may come into play.
I think UberXL only guarantees up to 6 passengers...
