I've only gotten tips driving for Lyft - none ever from Uber. I just don't think that passengers know it's even an option...
It's the culture Uber has created. They offer the in-app tipping in Uber now, but people still remember those days of "your personal driver" and "no tip necessary."
As a user I almost always tip when I use Lyft. With Uber it's tough, even if I want to I often don't because I don't have small bills.
Yep. This exactly.
it is a pain.
Isn't it obviously Lyft? I thought Lyft offers tipping directly on the app but Uber doesn't?
Right, that's my point. I am curious if tipping is more frequent when you are driving Lyft customers because of the ease at which riders can tip through the app. OR does it not really matter? Do Lyft customers frequently stiff their drivers and ignore the tipping feature or do they usually add a tip? Do Uber passengers tip around the same amount of times but in cash?
Ultimately, is Lyft's in-app tipping feature effective in garnering more tips?
Im thinkin of tryin out lyft...
UPDATE: Uber now offers in-app tipping.
