Hey, drivers! Do riders call you or text you? (prior to pickup)
The Guru Take
In terms of volume? People text, hands down.
Overwhelmingly over texts. This makes sense for multiple reasons:
- Many Uber users use Uber because they do not have to call to make the reservation.
- Uber is popular to the 25~34 age group, which is considered tech-savvy and prefer to use text to communicate.
- Passengers most often communicate with drivers to provide on a FYI basis, such as where to be picked up. It’s usually not something that involves a dialogue.
Of course, there are exceptions and some people certainly do call. I would assume the trend is the opposite for the drivers. :)
The exceptions include notfifying or asking the driver about special requests, e.g. long drives, having a pet, luggage concerns, difficult pickup locations, etc.

Drivers shouldn't be texting!!! I hate this.
Then how else are they to communicate with the customers? The majority has spoken. (see above)
I don't know, call them on the phone? It's right there in the question!!
Texting and driving is illegal in most states (and should be). Why does Uber even have this option?? It makes no sense. It makes the roads less safe.
What does this question mean? How do you call or text an uber driver?
Presumably, it's asking when the rider tries to get in touch with the driver (prior to the pickup) whether they use the text messages or phone calls.
Upon riders requesting a ride, they get a button in the Uber app where they can reach out to the drivers. (e.g. to arrange pickups, etc.)
What did you tihnk it meant?
Oh
he means after you get matched with driver
