I want to use my Uber account but I want my friend to be picked up first. Then come get me, as the destination is closer to my house, and my friend lives in the opposite direction. Can I do that?

Yes, you can, but it requires you to employ two tricks with Uber app in order to do this.
First is to request a ride to your friend. You can do this by simply setting the pick up location to where your friend is. You would need to know where he or she is and enter the location in the app. (Use this article on how) With a more recent feature, you can even specify that this ride is for someone else, and have driver communication actually go to your friend.
Second is to have your friend pick you up by specifying another stop, i.e. to pick you up. This can be done by either a) your friend requesting the driver to make a stop, or b) you assigning a multiple destination trip. (See this article for more info.)
