Whenever you go somewhere with your friends and take an Uber or Lyft, one person typically has to request and pay for the ride, hoping their friends pay them back eventually.
Did you know that popular rideshare services Uber and Lyft contain a feature that allows you to split a fare evenly between you and your friends?!
Here’s how to facilitate an even fare split on Uber and Lyft!
In order to split your ride, the steps need to be completed before the ride is over. If it is not completed in time, the original requester will pay the entirety of the fare. This service is not available for all Uber services, for example, you cannot split the fare through an UberPool. Another caveat to using the split fare feature is that each participating rider will be charged a 25 cent split charge fee.
The Lyft split rides feature is strikingly similar to Uber’s. Lyft even has the same 25 cent fee when you split your ride.
