Lyft deactivated me for weed smell in my car! Or is it because I write crap about them?

Well, last night I picked this guy up, he smelled weed the worst possible way. It's legal in CA now. After a half hour ride, I got stacked by another pax request, accepted it, on my way to her I opened all four windows. Picked her up, she immediately complained of the smell, I explained it to her but she didn't buy it, became hostile, I pulled the car over at a well lit spot and politely asked her to GTFO and 1*. I ended the ride turned the app off, pulled over to write a complaint. Before I could even fill out the complaint form, I get an app notice and an email that my driving privileges have been suspended due to a passenger complaint. Obviously, she was quicker on the trigger. I called CSR, they said I'm deactivated/suspended until an investigation is done. 1800 rides, 4.99 rating as a driver and this is how I get treated? U/L are like the LAPD, shoot first ask questions later. Actually, it'll be a favor! Pink moustache can go to hell!

This just happened to you last night? WTH. So sorry to hear this.  These passengers are so ridiculous. They dont give any drivers the benefit of the doubt. No consideration or understanding. I so wish these idiots were rated at their jobs the way drivers are. No one would be able to keep a job. Had an incident last weekend with navagation coming out of a parking lot. 20 sec mistake 1 star and a report. Had my rating up to a 4.97 on Uber for 24 hrs not after the 1 star back to a 4.96. No matter how hard you try that 1 rider has to mess it up for something beyond your control. I know its not the end of your world but suppose it was your only job? Only way to feed your family and put a roof over their heads? SMDH. Your such a nice intelligent man sucks you have to deal with this.

Some people will go to a lab and get one done. Dont know what it cost. I guess it depends on how bad you want to get back on Lyft:) They may look at your record see there havent been any other reports like it and put you back on. They usually will permanently deactivate you if there has been 2 reports. At that point though if you get 1 more they may permanently deactivate you. It happened to one of the Ubertubers on Lyft also. If lab isnt expensive may be worth it to be proactive.

I'm surprised she complained but some people are just nuts about this stuff.

Maybe Lyft has been looking for an excuse to ban you.

Whoa. This is a fear of mine. I can't believe it actually happened to you. It is legal in my state and some people reek of it. Lyft and Uber are going to have to wise up about this or they will not have any drivers left before too long

If its legal in your state they shouldnt deactivate you however is it legal to drive after smoking it? Unfortunately some idiot drivers smoke, dont think their car smells, and contunue to drive. As a passenger you dont know if its from last rider or your driver. Totally sucks. I had it happen to me once 7 females in early 20's get into my car all smelling like skunk. I had an immediate rider a few blocks away. I kerp Blunt Effects in my car sprayed, and opened windows. Once I got talking with my rider who also smokes weed on occassion I asked him if he could smell it. He said he couldnt. Blunt Effects and  similar brands will get the smell out of your car immediately.  You only need 1/2 squirts. I have found nothing else that works as well. Its usually $3/$4 for a few ounces in gas stations, smoke shops, and walmart. When I used to smoke cigarettes I could smoke 2 sprays of the Blunt Effects and pick up rider in less than 5 min. never got caught, questioned, or a report …

Lots of compliments on how good car smells also. Just beware it is strong (some riders sensitive) and it is oily (dawn dish detergent will take ot out of fabric). They have over 50 scents. Sorry Serge that you didnt know about this beforehand.

I've done 8,000 rides in two years on Lyft. Got deactivated 4 days ago. Been contacting them every day with no response. Still don't know why I'm deactivated. All my bills I have due are now late. This is horrendous how we're treated.

I was cleared and back online for Lyft. They can take their platform and shove it. Lesson learned, when you get a pothead in your car and the smell lingers, make sure that's the last ride until the weed odors are gone before accepting the next ride. However, this shows the cavalier attitude of Lyft putting a driver's account on hold without listening to my side of the story first.

Awesome. CONGRATS! Who cares if you never drive for them again its just great to know that POS pax dodnt win:) BTW must have came in contact with a skunk (roadkill) the other night. The smell was so strong it came in through my vents. I have never smelled skunk so strong:) So smells like weed. I was done for the night but sprayed my car with fabreze and the vents as I wanted to vomit. I cant imagine actually getting sorayed by one as the smell must never go away. Anyway I thought if you. So from now on when pax snell like weed or I smell skunk I will think of you:) I came out the next day and could smell it in my car. Lol

Wow, sorry to hear this. That is crazy that they didn't even wait for your side of the story!! Do you think they have put two and two together, that you are Sergio the driver AND writer?

Seems like they are deactivating drivers for nothing these days.

I don't drive for a lift as much but hopefully it will be cleared next couple days they have to put two and two together a while ago in fact they announced a new driver statement last Thursday and I was on a conference call with the chief product officer and chief marketing officer of Lyft for an hour so they know who I am

So they know who you are and still took a few days. Unbelievable. Apparently it happens to other drivers all the time.  Uber and Lyft just dont care. Happy to hear you are back. Even if you never drive for them again its still frustrating. It becomes "the principal" not so much that you cant drive on their app anymore. These pax that lie and give false reports should be charged a fine if it is found that driver wasnt guilty. Maybe then they would think twice before lying. I so wish these idiots would get rated at their job the way we do. With some tiders you cant make the smallest mistake without them trashing your rating.

There was another thread on here I came across last week. She thought that people on the street (not even a paying rider) should be able to rate Uber drivers. What makes these people think that they should be able to do that. This world is filled with many self entitled snowflakes who grew up being told they were special, wonderful, etc.. who are offended by what anyone says or does. SMDH
