Some are saying yes:
Studies are increasingly clear: Uber and Lyft congest cities
I guess this shouldn't come as a huge surprise. There is no going back though. Rideshares are here to stay. Even if public transportation options were brilliant in every city, they will never beat the convenience of having a driver come and pick you up right where you stand...

I see so many cars on my way to work everyday that have a driver and one person in the back. Makes me so mad. Why are people so lazy! Work hard, buy a car and drive yourself. This is why America is failing, people here have no drive (pun intended)
Yet here you are commenting on a rideshare website. I'm gonna assume you've taken an uber or two in your time :)
I can't visit a website without using it's product/service?! Not that its your business but I was estimating a fare in Germany where I will be traveling with my family very soon.
Don't you think that is a bit of a stretch? "America is Failing becuase people take Uber" LOL
Get ride of all the subways and make an underground system for rideshares, let's face it they are just moving more and more towards mass transit everyday.
Elon Musk is working on it :)
The answer is congenstion charges. London does this to great effect. Traffic was waaay cut down when the started congestion charges.
That would never fly in some places. Like, America, where half the population views taxation as theft, and public spending is a huge taboo.
So instead of having loads of owner-driven cars driving around looking for parking, you have loads of ubers driving around looking for fares. Makes sense.
Quick, we need swarms of RoboTaxis that can coordinate as one hive mind and stop the traffic madness.
