Here's my take on the anti AB5 and pro AB5 rallies that took place last couple of days. I personally don't want to be an employee of either shady, unethical outfit but someone, something has to check these companies.

Agreed. They think they are untouchable. If something isnt done they will continue to take advantage. They will continue to lie & cheat. I am hoping if it passes it will shed some light on this whole IC vs Employee. Basically CA will see how it works out. If its terrible the rest of the markets can fight for some changes but remain IC. Our minimum wage here is 7.50. No thanks.

Nothing in the bill says any of what Uber and Lyft are spreading, read about it, then make a judgement. Don't believe in U/L coercion, bullying and lies.

AB5 did not pass, it passed the committee that sent it to the Appropriation Committee then it'll be discussed in the CA Senate floor then it'll be up for a vote at the end of August.

There’s a glitch regarding editing titles, I told them already, hopefully they’ll fix it. Read my articles, you’ll get a lot out of them.

Benefits and such. Whether this helps the drivers depends on those people.  It’ll help people who are full time and are dedicated to the job. This can push out those who did this on an ad-hoc or on-demand basis.

This was one of the goals or agenda of these people who pushed for the AB5. They claim better lives, pay, quality of work, etc, but that was the underlying goal IMO.

I do not want to be an employee. I am hoping when drivers in LA become employees it sheds some light uf this is working for the drivers. Are they making better money now?

    Uber & Lyft

    1. Increase our rates (1.00/1.25 per mile .25 per min)close to what it was a few yrs sgo.

    2. 80/20% or 75/25% split what we signed up for

    3. Make riders sign up with valid ID & Credit/Debit Card

    4. Make ratings & deactivation more fair.

If they would do these 4 things I think most drivers would be happy. Their issues with drivers would go away. This isnt going to stop in California. Eventually every market will strike and make demands. I think they feel they are untouchable. They can keep getting away with what they do. They had a good idea & put out a decent app. Other than that they have done nothing. The drivers do all the work and the riders pay the money. Uber and Lyft would be nowhere without the Drivers. We provide the actual service and get riders from Point A to Point B safe…

A few may ask, if you dont like it why not quit?

Many drivers like driving for different reasons. I like to drive, meeting new people, seeing new places, flexibility, and instant pay. I dont like how Uber and Lyft lie & cheat both the drivers & riders. For many drivers the flexibility is what keeps them driving. As of right now I can still make money as long as they dont cut rates anymore. Gas prices rose but our rates didnt increase at all. Some markets rates were even cut.

Here's a link for the RDU, Rideshare Drivers United, check out their bill of rights.

      https://drivers-united.org/

When UBER x started in July on 2013, the rates were $5 to start amd $3.75 a mile, today in Los Angeles, we're at 60/21. $1-$1.25 is not enough, I would take 70% of cabs. Around the country cabs average $2.75 a mile and 40 cents a minute for congestion.

I would be happy 1.25 per mile .25 per min 1.50/2.00 base fare. Minimum ride 5.00 no less. No $3.43. Full 5.00 for cancel like Lyft. Of course I would be happier with higher rates then I mentioned but even what I am asking will not happen unless forced. I will check it out tonight when I am out driving (in between rides of course).

AB5 is the only deterring factor for U/L steamroller to stop crushing your wallet. If it is going to force them to the table, so be it. Bring it on!

Yes but the players at the table are Uber, Lyft and the government. I trust none of them at all. They are all crooked liars, cheaters, and thieves. Everyone of them would sell their mothers if they could make a few bucks. Everyone of them looks out for themselves. We dont matter to anyone of them. Now if we had an appointed group of drivers (elected by the drivers) along with a lawyer they we chose then we're talking.

I'm 100% with you, that's exactly what RDU is, otherwise as a driver, I wouldn't choose to support it. Go take a look at their site, they're the ones who organized the strikes in L.A. on May 8.

The problem with U/L is that they sell you flexibility, you can't trade that in fir your humanity. What flexibility? You're in the mercy of an AI computer with an algorithm. What kind of IC is that? Try calling a plumber tomorrow and tell them you'll say what the job is, how much they're going to get paid after they show up and finish the job, you'll hear the hang up tone.
