Uber has revolutionized the taxi industry with its easy-to-use service, but its current features lack options for transgender drivers to identify themselves correctly, which get some of them kicked off the app.
Transgender drivers across the country are finding their accounts either temporarily or permanently suspended due to an Uber security feature that requires drivers to take a selfie to verify their identity. If the photo doesn't come back as a match to other photos on file, it will get flagged.

I find this hard to believe. Uber has sent me the "verification" dialog more than a few times, almost always when most inconvienient, and I've "verified" while shooting them the bird of making the "L for loser" on my forehead without problems.
I have never gotten one of these verification requests. It's been at least 6 months since I started driving. Should I be worried. How often are you supposed to get these.
Your face is your identity. It's not perfect but that's the reality. Your friends, colleagues, Uber apps identify for what you look like, not whom you say you are.
This isn't a transgender problem. If you change your appearance, how people identify you will change.
This doesn't have to be a permanent issue. Just work hard to accommodate how others view you, and you are good. No one said it's easy.
I heard errors can happen even with dudes before and after shaving and with women who put on their make up vs. not. Don't make this a gender problem, please. You changed your appearance, and you need to work on making that stick.
Uber has 99 problems but this ain't one of them.
Is this stupid news?
I finally got around to reading this, while I stared at the headline in skepticism. Yes, this is FAKE NEWS Uber isn't proactively and intentionally blocking transgenders. They don't even know who and which drivers are transgender. Come one, man. CNBC. That's just so trashy.
