On Wednesday, August 19, 2020 around 7-7:15 am. I called for an uber to take me to work. When the driver showed up he was on the opposite side of the street from me. I motioned for him to come to the side that I was on, he nodded his head "NO". I walked over to his car, and said that we have to go in the opposite direction towards the FDR Drive, he said "NO" again, and that he cancelled the ride. I thought nothing of it, another ride came, and took me to work. I look at my email the next day and see the message " Your recent trip cancellation " from Uber. Then it said that " Your driver said you were not wearing a face cover or mask " Then they leave me a long message about covid-19 and the safety of riders, and drivers, and at the end of the message they say " If your trip was canceled when you were in fact wearing a face cover or mask, we are sorry for that inconvenience." He lied, because he didn't want to go back towards the FDR Drive. I work in a hospital, and know all to well the importance of wearing a face covering or mask. When I try to contact uber to make a complaint about him lieing on me, I'm getting the run around. This is absurd, that a driver can lye, and not be held accountable for his unprofessional actions towards riders. I'm thinking about deactivating my uber account. Although this was the "FIRST" time this has happened, but you know it only takes one time.

OMG that happened to me two weeks ago. Uber basically didn’t care about my concern. The funny thing is I never met or seen the driver(I was in chic fil a). He cancelled my ride abruptly and said the same thing -I wasn’t wearing my mask. I, too , work in healthcare and always wear my mask. I deactivated my account. Tired of Uber anyway. I’m sticking with lyfte. Sorry you had to deal with this. They side with the driver but not the customer
This exact same thing happened to me on LYFT - a driver cancelled and LYFT App said sorry something went wrong try gain and here is a 15% discount but when I tried again the app said your account has been suspended because a driver reported you didn’t wear a mask. I work on Covid and always wear a mask and these days I wear 2.
Does anyone even know how to contact uber? I seem to be running around in circles trying to get help because I’ve had TWO drivers lie about this.
Twitter but it’s garbage you will probably get a straight answer talking to the CEO or going on live TV to report your grievances
Tell Uber the REAL story - they will refund your cancellation fee and they will deal with the driver.
I would be so angry! You can complain to Uber and tell them the real story. I would do that!
