Reserve a Rental Car through Uber Rent

Vaccines are rolling out, borders are opening up, and rental cars are nowhere in sight. Families hoping to take their first vacation since lock down are finding themselves in a dilemma when it comes to transportation options. Due to Covid-19, there is a currently a major rental car shortage and while some people are turning to rideshares to bridge the gap, on-demand transportation isn’t always the answer. Uber is hoping to help fill this need with Uber Rent.

What is Uber Rent?

Uber Rent is an Uber feature that allows you to reserve a rental vehicle directly through the Uber app. Uber works with third party rental companies to help find the best current prices and vehicle selections on the market. Uber Rent is currently operating in a limited number of cities. To check if Uber Rent is available in your area and to complete a reservation follow the below steps. 

1. Open the Uber app on your mobile device
2. Open up the side menu and look for “Rentals”
3. Tap on the Reservation Tab and start your booking application

Currently, when you book a rental with Uber Rent, you will also be given the option to take an Uber to the rental pickup location and receive a discounted price on the trip!

In order to reserve a car with Uber Rent, you must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license. Currently, Uber rental cars are only available to book with a credit card. You will actually pay for the rental car when you pick it up at the rental desk.

The minimum rental period is 1 day, and typically, you can book a car up to 2 hours before your scheduled pick-up window. As with any car rental you can also add on extras such as insurance, GPS, additional drivers, and child seats. Please note, most extras will incur additional fees.
