The holidays are upon us and 2019 is drawing to a close. Most likely in an attempt to draw attention away from the recent sexual harassment data that Uber shared, the rideshare giant just shared some more interesting insights and this time the takeaways are much more positive.
Every year Uber shares statistics on the most popular “uber-ed to” locations from across the world and it is always fun to see the top 15 spots! Just like in 2018, the number one tourist destination for those taking Uber cars is The Empire State Building. Here is the complete list of the most frequently Ubered-to tourist attractions.
- Empire State Building
- Freedom Tower
- CN Tower
- Arc de Triomphe
- Eiffel Tower
- The Louvre
- Burj Khalifa
- Disneyland
- Buckingham Palace
- Golden Gate Bridge
- Sydney Opera House
- Berlin Wall
- The Blue Mosque
- The Vatican
- Great Pyramid of Giza
As a follow up, Uber also shared the most popular international countries for US tourists to travel too. They rank as follows:
- Mexico
- Canada
- United Kingdom
- Brazil
- France
- India
- Australia
- Colombia
- Portugal
- Spain
- Netherlands
- Germany
- Peru
- Dominican Republic
- South Africa
Some additional fun takeaways from the shared data are:
- The day with the most Uber activity was the Saturday of St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Halloween weekends follows closely behind.
- Uber Bike and Scooter miles topped 24 million miles taken globally. To put that in perspective, that is 5x more than in 2018.
- Uber Eats delivered so much sushi this year that if you piled it all up it would weigh almost as much as 8 humpback whales.
- On a not so healthy note, the most commonly ordered dish on Uber Eats was French Fries.
Happy Holidays!
