  I started to read this and a shiver went down my spine. I thought you meant they created a task force to start ticketing Uber drivers.

  Other posters are correct that drivers cancelling a trip before showing up will not trigger a cancellation fee. However, there are ways they manipulate ans scam you:

  • The driver shows up and claims he was there. Then triggers a “no show” cancellation. He or she can do that after 5 minutes. 
  • The driver shows up, claims to have picked you up, and then immediately cancels. This technically starts the rider but it completes it immediately. 
  • The driver accepts a ride, calls or messages you to ask you for your destination. Then cancels it. This won’t trigger a cancellation charge, at least I don’t think so, but this allows them to cherry pick a ride.

   5 years ago in  "Say My Name" didnt go over to well & still causing some drivers a problem. Now NJ passed a new law to go in effect in 9 mths. Uber & Lyft will they stay or will they go in NJ?

  I take like 22 Uber rides are week, and I have never had any driver ask me anything.  They just pull up and we go.

   5 years ago in  Do you want to be an employee or independent contractor? Do you think Uber & Lyft will pull out of CA if forced to make drivers employees? Would you sign the notices Uber & Lyft sent to CA drivers? Will whatever happens with CA drivers trickle down to the other 49 states? Will this be the end of rideshare as we know it?

  I am a weekender and part-time. I like Uber because I can work minimal hours whenever I want to.  I have a primary job I go to and only drive for Uber when I feel like it.  or need extra cash.

  I think it'd be detrimental if my employer could dictate when and how long I work. That would be it for me.

  Uber will lose most of these "drive when I can" folks. Clear as bell.

  Yes, you can.  You can drive for either one.  You use the same driver app, but you can choose which service you want to handle.  

  It's as granular as UberX vs UberSUV.

  All of them speak in such extremes and they fail to see anything gray or anything that doesn’t agree with them. 

  The world is a complicated place with a lot of gray. They don’t understand that. 

  People are starving for various reasons and they just say, “why don’t they work?”

  There aren't that many laws that can prevent drivers from denying service, I don't think. Maybe race, religion and gender?  

  Lyft has a community guideline, so technically, anyone who breaks this you should be able to refuse a ride. At the least Lyft will back you up if you are following the rules mentioned here.

  Dudes apparently cannot be discriminated against apparently.

  Not just gender but everything else. None in power can be discriminated against. The funny thing is? I think it sort of has to be that way while we all fix this long running history of discrimination.  Think affirmative action for school acceptance and white people being called "crackers."
