Hey, drivers! Do riders call you or text you? (prior to pickup)

I heard that Uber feeds their new drivers for 2 months to "get them hooked." Then the honeymoon period is over. True?
I heard from not one, not two, but three drivers of this story, and they weren't even prompted. It's apparently … -
Is it true that Uber pockets the cancellation fees?
Can this be true? I thought the whole point of the cancellation fees was to compensate the drivers for their …
I started to read this and a shiver went down my spine. I thought you meant they created a task force to start ticketing Uber drivers.
Not like our jobs are hard enough
Crash and burn business model.
Badass until the end.
Amen to that.
Destination cherry picking happens a lot at airports.
Yeah, but the underlying goal is to cherry pick the rides.
Other posters are correct that drivers cancelling a trip before showing up will not trigger a cancellation fee. However, there are ways they manipulate ans scam you:
oh, wait. I am in CA. Sorry.
I am Orange county too!
Free food and free entry brought the entire community in. SPouses and kids too.
I take like 22 Uber rides are week, and I have never had any driver ask me anything. They just pull up and we go.
This is in LA.
I am a weekender and part-time. I like Uber because I can work minimal hours whenever I want to. I have a primary job I go to and only drive for Uber when I feel like it. or need extra cash.
I think it'd be detrimental if my employer could dictate when and how long I work. That would be it for me.
Uber will lose most of these "drive when I can" folks. Clear as bell.
Right. The precedence will be set. Scary
Yes, you can. You can drive for either one. You use the same driver app, but you can choose which service you want to handle.
It's as granular as UberX vs UberSUV.
All of them speak in such extremes and they fail to see anything gray or anything that doesn’t agree with them.
The world is a complicated place with a lot of gray. They don’t understand that.
People are starving for various reasons and they just say, “why don’t they work?”
I once refused service to two naked dudes in roller blades.
Where? Manhattan Beach, of course.
There aren't that many laws that can prevent drivers from denying service, I don't think. Maybe race, religion and gender?
Lyft has a community guideline, so technically, anyone who breaks this you should be able to refuse a ride. At the least Lyft will back you up if you are following the rules mentioned here.

Not become one.
Yes, that’s exactly what it is.
And yes, the drama is enjoyable. Like reality tv but more real
That's for Lyft, right? I don't think there is a separate section for Uber.
Dudes apparently cannot be discriminated against apparently.
Not just gender but everything else. None in power can be discriminated against. The funny thing is? I think it sort of has to be that way while we all fix this long running history of discrimination. Think affirmative action for school acceptance and white people being called "crackers."
I don't do Pool rides. I can't be competing with $1.75 city buses and subways. No thanks.
