I heard from not one, not two, but three drivers of this story, and they weren't even prompted. It's apparently a common understanding among the drivers. What gives?
I heard that Uber feeds their new drivers for 2 months to "get them hooked." Then the honeymoon period is over. True?

I am a driver and I have heard this as well. I even discussed this with other drivers. Many drivers swear by this.
I personally think it's one of those exaggerated stories that becomes a myth. I mean, everyone complains about their jobs. This is just someting we all love to whine about when we wish we were making more money.
...or could it be that all new drivers have 5 star ratings? Flawless record means more fares?
Doesn't Uber guarantee a certain payout for the first month? (maybe in some cities) So, if they have to pay these new drivers anyways, they proactively direct the available fares to these honeymooners?
That's an excellent point.
By feeds their new drivers do you mean "feeds them more ride requests" or directly "feeds them more cash"?
I interpreted it as, like.. feeds them. Food. Hamburgers and stuff. I was confused for a second.
Yeah, I don't think it's literal. I don't think it's quite figurative either. I think he is saying, "hand-feed them with rides"
If this is true, it didn't happen for me! I actually struggled in the beginning getting ride requests, then I started figuring out peoples patterns.
I feel like the honeymoon period just ended when they went (and about to go) public.
They were paying us all inflated prices to get us all hooked and get the word out. Now they did, they are going to and already have slashed the pay. The reality is settling in now.
