Why is Uber cheaper than Taxi?
Comm Ave and Clarendon is like the most affluent area of the city. There is no way she cared to save a dollar. My guess is that it was an honest mistake.
Did you see this?
New York Could Become First Major U.S. City to Cap Uber and Similar Vehicles
What about this solution. Drivers also get to specify what he or she wants. Temperature, music, whether chatting is allowed or not. Uber can match you up with them or just display these preferences on the app.
Is that too much?
Yes, absolutely relevant.
I thought this was a Uber forum.
+1. "It's like driving a school bus."
That's a great way to explain this industry. They are just calling it "Uber for..." Smart.
and I don't blame them for the rules in place. That's what it takes to service the children. and no wonder Uber didn't step in it. (nor drivers)
This is what we have to live with. The most dangerous job in the world.
Yeah, I suppose that is true. It's not like cops had anything to gain.
UberPool. I guess it makes sense a bit, but couldn't we also think they are a service that takes you to a pool? or brings you a pool?
Negotiation used to happen a lot back in the days when Uber and Lyft enforced a maximum distance/duration limit and the passenger needed a longer ride. I believe regular drivers just asked to re-request but I assume some were simply negotiated.
Long trips do happen. Like LA-Las Vegas or NYC and the Hamptons. People call UberBlack and simply come up with a separate arrangement.
I don't think there is anything illegal or shady about it either... well, maybe a little.
I thought you see nothing. Not even the passenger's first name anymore. Or is that only in certain markets. I'm not a driver so I don't know.
Could you have known the second request was coming from the same guy? No, right?
"Retirees who just want to get out of the house, Realtors looking for leads, Musicians looking for gigs, etc.)"
Damn, really? I actually once thought being a realtor would be a good side gig for an Uber driver (or vice versa) because of th flexible hours but never thought of leads being generated as an Uber driver.
Musicians. LOL. They must carry their guitar in the front seat?
Makes sense. Uber cleaning up their balance sheet. Time to consolidate, streamline, cut the fat, etc. Gotta look pretty.
Uber's world dominance sure did fizzle fast.
Isn't this in line with the market share figure Lyft announced earlier this year? I think it's darn impressive.
I don't even know where all these people are taking Lyft, because if you asked 10 people on the streets the option they use, I suspect 8 or 9 would say Uber.
This policy makes sense if the driver is strictly an independent contractor, but what if they are deemed as an employee like in California?
In fact, it does.
They sneak this in there: "Whether you have a child in college or a parent who doesn’t drive, it’s never been easier to help them get around. Family Profiles allows you to share one payment method so you can foot the bill without the hassle."
The video makes Uber sound so evil, but sexual assaults happen everywhere. This is FAKE NEWS!!
This won't help the abandonment problem?
Perhaps that's capitalism and we should embrace it. Demand based pricing.
