A Slow Period Is Coming Up For The Next Two Hours - What Would You Do As Drivers: Option A) Do Whatever It Is You Do Normally or B) Go Home, Lay on the Couch and Nap or Watch The Price Is Right. ????

Whenever it gets slow around here, (Plattsburgh, NY) I usually go to a good waiting spot, turn the car off and read my books and newspaper and wait for a ping. But sometimes, when I have been sitting reading for more than a half an hour, I feel that I should go home and lay on the couch and maybe, I emphasize maybe, do some chores around the house. Our slow time here is pretty much everyday from 10 AM until about 2 PM.  I know the easy answer is to keep my driver app turned on and run out to the car when I catch a ride but, it’s hard to relax when you have to be ready to run out the door. FYI, there are no places around here to go to catch more rides, so , our options are limited. What would you do? Thanks, Lou (Goodideasll)

Clean my car, read, run a few errands. I didnt go out yesterday as the roads were saturated with drivers. All thinking it would surge because drivers were striking. It didnt surge anymore than it usually does. All it did was screw drivers who regularly work Wednesday. Oh well back to normal today with no fare increases for drivers. No different then any other day. Uber and Lyft still out there screwing drivers with no end in sight.

Hi Mom, Lou here!😊I must have had a few cocktails when I first responded to your kind posts on here - but at the time , I thought your handle was Momo and I still think of you like that!  Do you remember ‘Get Shorty’? I don’t think you look like that but I just like the name ‘Momo’! Is that okay ? PS I took off from driving yesterday, for the ‘cause’, and coincidentally Uber gave me my first chargeback of $5.27 on a $7.92 fare that they say I picked up the wrong person - even though the ride they gave me that they deducted from was 4 hours later! Go figure! 😊Hope You and Yours are well!😊

Had a hell of a time replying to your post. I saved it by screenshot hoping this works.

Was the $7.92 the big driver settlement every one's talking about? LOL

(I totally thought it was Momo also. Funny thing. It's actually a cute handle except for the scary pics that were circulated.)

Thank You BGraft89! I think you hit the nail right on the head !! Personally, I think that Uber and whoever took my money are full of crap - they just took my money, no details, nothing correlates to any of my rides and all they say is that I took the wrong rider somewhere, sometime! (And they NEVER respond to any of my queries!) Plus, every time they promised me reimbursed money, they reneged on their word and never paid me and then blamed the first tier clerk whom they say promised me money erroneously - BIG FAT LIARS!  Thusly, I Place no faith in anything Uber says and does and just wrote off the $5.27 they took from me! Other than that, I Love working for Uber!  PS I think Momo/Mom is pretty Awesome!  Thanks again BGraft!🙂

Wow.  That’s a bit sad to see. This is like the opposite of unity.

the roads were saturated with drivers. All thinking it would surge because drivers were striking.

Hi bBerman81, I wanted to work too but one of the things I have learned by being old (58, 18 years older than I ever imagined I would be!), is that, I can live with my conscience a lot better by stepping back and trying to do the right thing. Not gonna judge those people out trying to earn, they’ll figure out what’s right and wrong - all on their own! Thanks bBerman,  Good Luck To You!🙂

Between 10 and 2, I do UberEats. I don't make nearly as much as when I drive passengers, but that's how you keep busy through the slow times. Luckily, the busy times for UberEats is when it's slow for riders - and vice versa.

During my slow times, I just park somewhere and read a book. ..or play smartphone games. Why waste gas going home just to come back later again?

Home for me is almost always less than 10 minutes away, usually less!

Two hours is a long time. I'd take B.

Experienced drivers know when it'll be slow though.

I would keep my app on for a week and see just how many pings I get between 10-2. If it is very few then I would just decide to do something else with that time. Go home, sleep, relax, do chores, etc. If there is still an ok number of pings, enough to make it worth it then I would probably sit in the most high traffic area and wait!

Thanks Sally, appreciate your help. I have decided to read my book for up to 20 minutes in the same spot and then head home .  I will do like RedANT  and Momof4 say and work from home, ready to go in a moment’s notice when pinged. Thanks again!
