Hi! 🙂Louis here from Plattsburgh , NY (way upstate- 30 minutes from Canada). Yesterday (7/24/19), I was returning from an Uber call in Keeseville, NY, when I got pinged by Lyft for a ride 22 minutes away at about 9:52 AM,  back in Plattsburgh NY. I responded right away and arrived at my passenger’s home about 10:15.  He was trying to cancel his ride because he had a reservation with Lyft to be picked up at 9:45. I apologized for Lyft and asked him if we went right away, if his doctors could still see him. He phoned and they said they would accommodate him. We left for his appointment in Burlington, Vermont. Before we left, I also informed my passenger that Lyft (and Uber, FYI) does not include the Lake Champlain Ferry in the cost of the trip to Vermont. He did not have the $15.25 necessary to pay for our ferry. I told him that I would pay for it- not to worry. Also , customer (Glenn), told me that someone else from his insurance company had made his Lyft reservation and was gonna pay for his trip , to and from Burlington. We continued on our way to University of Vermont Medical Center, about 40 minutes driving and 20 minutes on the ferry. Now, at this point, I checked and found out that Glenn’s trip was not set up for a return trip. So, knowing that I, as a NY driver, am not allowed to pick up rides in Vermont, had Glenn try to contact the people that set up his ride and have them add a return trip to Plattsburgh. He was unable to do so. I contacted Lyft Support and was told that they cannot  alter his itinerary either.  I then asked Jorge, at LyftSupport if it was okay to drop off Glenn at the hospital and not end the trip there, but wait…

He was unable to do so. I contacted Lyft Support and was told that they cannot  alter his itinerary either.  I then asked Jorge, at LyftSupport if it was okay to drop off Glenn at the hospital and not end the trip there, but wait for his return and take him back to Plattsburgh? I also asked , that if I do that, will I get paid for my mileage both ways and my wait time? Jorge, at LyftSupport checked and texted me , that, yes, I would be paid for mileage, both ways, and wait time.  I have to say, that Jorge was very nice and even complimented me on my Lyft 5.0 rating. At this point, I gave Glenn my phone number and told him that I would wait for him in a nearby hotel parking lot, read my book and wait for his call, which I did. About an hour later, Glenn called and said that there was a complication and they could not release him for up to 3 hours. Since Glenn did not have a ride home, I told him that I would wait for him. I enjoyed the beautiful day and read my book while waiting my call. About 3 hours later, at 3:30, Glenn called, I picked him up and we started our journey home. Glenn decided that taking the long way home, about 40 miles and a half hour longer was alright to save us paying the $15.25 Lake Champlain Ferry toll. About half way home, Glenn stopped at McDonald’s for a food and bathroom break. We then were on our way back to his home, where we arrived at 5:30! I ended the trip, Glenn was very thankful. And I ended the trip, back where we started at his home in Plattsburgh, NY.  I was paid $72 for the wait time and that was it - no mileage, which I estimated to be about 120 miles. I immediately called LyftSupport, which referred me to the online app. I figured that they owe me anothèr $80 dollars or so . Now, after texting LyftSupport 5 or 6 times with all of this relevant information, they promised to acknowledge my texts and get back to me. They did not! That was yesterday, at 5:30 PM, and I still have heard NOTHING from Lyft or LyftSupport! My wife says that I should  forget about it and never trust Lyft or LyftSupport ever again. If anybody is still alive, after reading all of this, I would sure like to hear from You!  Thank You All! I am sorry that I wrote so much but I needed to tell you all that may be able to help me or show me the error of my ways! GoodNight and Thank You!🙂
and said that there  was a complicationÂ

Hello All! 🙂Good News!🙂LyftSupport (Jennifer and Trimale) wrote to me today and informed me that my mileage will be added to my pay this week! 🙂 I am very happy and grateful to everyone here who helped me, especially Chawes and Uberserge! 🙂Have A Great Night!🙂
Great news, hopefully you have learned something from this. Make sure they're crediting you the right amount, don't let them throw you crumbs or short change you! Be safe out there!
Wow, what an ordeal, there you go, no good deed goes unpunished.Â
There's a lot of wrong in this, especially on the Lyft end, you're just trying to scrape a living. But you made some mistakes as well. First, why would you drive 22 minutes to pick anyone up without knowing where you're going? What if that was a minimum fare? Second, when the ping comes in, in this case this was clearly a scheduled ride, you should have passed on it. I know scheduled rides are usually long distance but you need to figure out your downside before you take it. Third, you need to understand that Lyft has a max dollar limit on rides, I don't know what it is in your state/city but you should never take thise types of rides. Fourth, when you got to the pick up point, you can click on the menu and you'll see the destination before you start the ride, once you saw that you're going to a different state, it's an automatic cancel for me. It's not your fault that Lyft scheduled …

It's not your fault that Lyft scheduled ride was done by the doctor/hospital, it's Lyft's problem that the original driver couldn't accept the ride when it was time and you were late showing up. This ping also had to come in with a 60+ disclaimer, you need to pay attention to the ping screen instead of accepting everything U/L throw your way.Â
I hope you'll get paid, it's all a learning experience. Good luck and be safe.

Thank You VERY Much Uberserge!  (This is third time I have tried to Thank You!) I do not have screen shots but I do still have the texts from Jorge @ LyftSupport! I am very grateful for  all of the wisdom you have given me today in your responses. You are very Kind! Thanks Again!Â
I'm truly sorry what you're going through, I learned the hard way myself a few years ago, stand your ground with Lyft, don't take NO for an answer, they'll cave in.Â
I have been in same situation.
As usual, they  never going to reply u. Weird thing I found when I was in such situation is, Lyft does not have even direct phone number for drivers where u can talk about ur situation. U can just text, which they might reply whenever they want. And if they don’t want to listen ur concern, they will simply leave the conversation and even close ur case without providing u any help.
All I can say is you are a truly good dude to do all that for this guy. Truly good. I hope Lyft comes through for you. Like Uberserge said, stand your ground with them. They owe you.
Movie rights?
😄
Hopefully you have screenshots of the texts and e-mails, you'll get paid hopefully but it's going to be a few days until Lyft reviews this ride and makes a decision.
