Aren't Uber cancellation fees supposed to be flat $10 or $5?

I was looking over my statement and I have noticed that the cancellation fees are not always $5 like I expected. (I know for UberBlack it's $10) I have some others like $8.43 and one was over $11.

Can someone explain to me what's happening?

Not sure if Uber charges more for cancelling a prescheduled ride or not. Lyft charges $5.00 for cancelling or not showing up in 5 min on a regular Lyft ride and charges $10.00 for Prescheduled rides. And unlike Uber transfers this entire cancellation amount to driver where as Uber takes their cut on top of cancellation fees as well

Good point on the driver’s take. They take the whole thing. One thing Uber did right.

Scheduled rides don’t have cancellation fees as long as they are cancelled before the rider is matches up with the rider. Then you have a few minutes to cancel

I meant to say Uber takes $1.25 from the $5.00 cancellation fee charged to the passenger for not showing up and only gives the driver $3.75. Where Lyft gives the driver entire $5.00 for no show on regular Lyft ride and $10.00 on pre-scheduled Lyft ride.

What I am curious to know is if a passenger pre-scheduled an Uber ride then does not show up when driver waited for 5 minutes what the passenger is charged by Uber as cancellation fee? Is it still $5.00?

I've never seen anything besides $5 and $10. and I've cancelled like a 100 times.

Well, the driver has to have been driving long enough to exceed $5 or $10 by time and distance. If it's like $1.25 a mile, they'd had to have driven 4+ miles maybe over 10 minutes. You probably cancel before that.

Hm, I have only ever gotten $5 or $10 fees depending on the service.
