Lyft just reduced DF (destination filter) from 6 to 2, do you care?

Lyft has been on a roll, after reducing mileage rates by 50% in a lot of cities, they just dropped the hammer on destination filters in Los Angeles. I used all of the 6 available on Lyft and 2 on Uber to position myself, another major blow. Pretty soon, they’ll ask us to pay them to have the privilege to drive for them.

Lyft is awful with DF. You could change your mind right after setting filter and go to change it but that counts as 1 use. When on DF they only leave you on for so long and boot you off the app. Uber only gives 2 but you can change it after 10 min and they dont count it as using one. They dont boot you off the app after 15/20 min when on DF. Uber's DF is better than Lyft's.

I drive in Las Vegas----4 years now. Are these people that stupid? I have a 6 cylinder van---15 mpg in Vegas traffic. I ain't going to the airport on a Sunday night for a $4 fare from MGM and no ride on the way back to the Strip. With 6 DF's ---at least  I could choose to turn the Lyft app on- for a $12 ride downtown instead of waiting out Uber XL. Now----after over 3000 Lyft rides. I'm done with them-- unless I'm stuck in No Mans land without hope for XL. God , those people are stupid. I hope all there stock options expire worthless.

Message I sent to Lyft Help today
    Hi,

Thanks for responding. However, you totally ignored and/or did not read the information I sent you about my issue, which is regarding direction filters.

Lyfts extremely limited help section does not have any categories related to direction filters that I can find. Please correct me if I'm wrong and tell me how I could have requested help on this issue more directly and effectively.

For two days in a row now, I've only had 2 direction filters. Is this a mistake? Or is Lyft really reducing the number of direction filters from 6 to 2 per day?

REALLY ??? A reduction of 66% on something that is crucial for drivers to make rideshare driving economically viable, especially for only part-time drivers, which you claim all drivers should be.

How does limiting direction filters even benefit Lyft? It must be an extremely marginal benefit to Lyft if any. But the benefit to drivers is huge. Does Lyft have any awareness of how important the DFs are to part-tim…

    Hi,

How does limiting direction filters even benefit Lyft? It must be an extremely marginal benefit to Lyft if any. But the benefit to drivers is huge. Does Lyft have any awareness of how important the DFs are to part-time drivers? Or any compassion or empathy for how important Direction filterability is for drivers?  Why should there be any limit on the time a DF lasts or any limit on the number of DFs?

Apparently Lyfts business model relies on finding enough drivers that have extremely low levels of self -respect and or/ incapable of finding another job or gig that values our service and treats us with respect and decency. Unfortunately, you end up hurting and fostering resentment and animosity from people like me who are full-time parents and need the flexibility to be able to not work when my 8 y.o. daughters needs are a priority.

Lyft is becoming one hated company really fast. Even worse than Uber. I am noticing a big drop in request. I was in a 3.3X surge last night that lasted over an hour. Not one ping on Lyft. They were college kids also paying that high surge and avoiding ordering a Lyft. Something is up. Even in Wildwood NJ Uber surges (multiplier) people are still ordering Uber not Lyft. I think Lyft may be on its way down and possibly out. We will see.

Yes, That would upset me quite a bit. Otherwise I tend to get pulled further and further from home. Like hours sometimes. Actually they are asking us to drive for free. My rate card says 33 cents per mile and 10 cents per minute. Frankly, I almost s#@t myself when I saw it. No warning... unless they had a popup when I was driving. Someone on the phone said it was more... but I guess I will have to do a ride to find out... but really I do not want to. Eventually the IRS will have to do something. The write off is more than the pay. You are depreciating your car for a little cash. If it is a recent model... you lose big time. Funny thing is my last tech job would pay me an hourly rate for my travel time AND $.75 per mile.

But why?! What does this benefit Lyft? Are they losing money on driver's using destination filters? Sometimes I think there is board meetings at corporate where they just sit around and find ways to screw with drivers.

Always a good question why? Why do they always change things that help the driver? Does that give you a hint?

They don't want drivers, they want robots before driverless cars. They're so evil!

The destination filters are becoming a joke. It was a great idea when they first introduced them and really helped drivers in a number of ways but now everything with these companies is getting too limited to make any impact on our schedules.
