I recently have had a number of long trips but no warning from Uber? This resulted in me having to cancel plans with one of my buddies to complete the ride. WTH?

I didn't receive my cancellation fee from the rider who cancelled. What could be the reason? Uber of course isn't writing back. Did the rules change?

You should get a long trip notification, it doesn't go by miles but by the estimated time of the trip - anything 45 minutes or more (at least this is wat I have noticed)
Thanks, I thought my trips were this long, maybe jsut felt like it? i wonder if the long distance trip warning is different in different cities?
Uber definitely underestimates trip time, it is so frustrating. They will aslo do this when i am picking up a pax. They will tell the pax I am 3 minutes away when in reality I am sitting in traffic nad it will take me 15 minutes to get there!
yep and then the passenger gets mad at YOU, UGH
The CURSE of the last trip - it is always the longest ride of the day, just when you wnat to get home
I do not think you should ever be obliged to take a long trip if not warned properly. I have only ever cancelled one trip... but If I was tired and had already worked 10 hours... it would be negligent to accept a 2 hour ride away from town. A polite explanation... and even search to see if there are other uber drivers in the area to ensure they can get a ride... would be acceptable and probably the smart thing to do.
Never, feel like you have to take a long trip! You are a contractor not an employee!!
