I've seen this on 2 other occassions when my kids call me for a ride.  This all started back in the Summer of 2018 possibly further back. This past Saturday night my son & his gf were at his Christmas party in CC Philadelphia an area that frequently surges on the weekends. I get a phone call asking me if I was in the area because Uber wanted $65.71 for the ride.  The ride down was $24.48. When surge went off the ride was $23.98. The drivers app showed a surge of $6.50 with a 3 for $3.50 consecutive ride bonus. Driver roughly was being paid $7.65 extra for the ride. Ride without surge approx $24+7.65= $31.65 to driver Uber's take should've been approx. 9.27 to $10.85 depending when driver signed up. Lets go with $10 on Ubers cut $31.65 + $10 = 41.65. Where did $23.86 go that the rider paid? Not in the drivers pocket. Remember we were being shown a 6.50 surge & $1.15 for consecutive ride trip.  Uber took the $23.86 for a total of $33.86. Driver only made $31.65. What happened to 80%/20% or 75%/25% forgot that went out the door with upfront pricing. What happened to transparency? Apparently Uber doesnt understand the word. Drivers can click "fare details" it gives us what we were pd., what Uber took for themselves, and what rider paid. Funny thing is $23.86 will not be showing up anywhere in the driver app. It's floating in Cyber Space right into Ubers bank account. I would be willing to bet this happens all the time. Its not a glitch. This is the 3rd time I have caught it and its rare I look for it. Uber is not being transparent with its drivers (although we all know that) but riders how do.you feel about it? Do you assume t…

Do you assume the driver is getting all the money - 20%/25%?  How many riders out there dont tip when hit with a high surge figuring the driver is making all that extra $? Just curious. Would love to hear frim riders.

I have also caught both Uber and Lyft doing this. I think that is one of the reasons Lyft took away what riders are paying. I've also seen a few YT videos with screenshots.  All the negativity, lies, issues, and criminal activity (rape, robbery, murder) and yet we still drive and still request rides. Riders are addicted and drivers are dependent on the income. The Evil Dara knows this and his competitor Logan follows Dara's every move. The only way things will get better is for new honest CEO's take over the 2 companies but dont see that happening. A new rideshare company who actually cares about making both driver & riders happy enters the market.and defeats the Evil CEO and his copycat follower Logan. Wonder if Logan Greene ever makes a decision on his own? Nah my guess is his 1st thought what would Dara do?

With UP and the Penny Surge what the pax pays and drivers receive has been totally separated. This is the way they're going to make money, Lyft PPZ scam isn't any better
