It looks like Uber is quietly building its own electric scooter, racing to play catch-up with the billion-dollar startups
"The project is being overseen by Jump Bikes, which Uber acquired in April for more than $100 million. The ubiquitous two-wheelers have become a tech industry fixation since Bird, a Santa Monica-based startup run by a former Uber employee, launched a scooter-sharing service last fall."

Can you stop building stuff, please? You aren't a "technology" company. You are just a ground transportation company. Glorified taxi dispatching call center. That's all you did. Replaced and automated the antiquated call center fod dispatching taxis.
The same goes to autonomous vehicles and UberAir.
LOL at Uber spending $100 Million on a scooter business. With real leadership they could have done it for less than 1% of that cost. Sounds like someone at Jump Bikes had connections at Uber.
Yeah, I believe the founder of Jump is an x-Uber employee. He sold himself back to Uber.
Potential corruption? All part of a scheme? Who knows what else happened under the table.
