"Can you change the station please? This song reminds me of my abusive father".
I have thought on this sentence so many times since that ride and still have no idea how I should have responded.
wow, what was the song? Do you think he played it while abusing her? This would be so out of my comfort zone.
One time I gave a ride to a chef who told me to never eat a restaurants weekend buffet brunch as it is just all the leftovers from the week... I can't seem to enjoy buffets anymore 😔
Buffets always creep me out.
Once someone asked me for advice on how to tell his foster son that they would not be adopting him but would be adopting his younger sister. I had no words of advice, I still think of this guy as a monster.
What a terrible person. Is that even legal, adopting one sibling but not the other?
One time my passenger got a call while in the car that her father had passed away. It was the worst ride of my life. I felt so terrible just listening to her shock and sobs in the backseat. I spoke up and said I was so sorry but it felt so insignificant.
I have been thinking about this. Some of the things I have heard are really not repeatable here, crude and unbecoming...
There was one toxic woman... she was so toxic... until she said... "Oh, you are from NYC... well that explains a lot." I had been very nice to her, so nice, and she was being horribly abusive... well anyway, she pressed a button and I silently flipped... My eyes must have given her an angry look... (one hell of a transition... I was really offended.) I think she actually jumped... maybe even peed a little... and on realizing she had crossed the line... she became as sweet as your grandma. The ride went from -100 to +10. (I think she did not want her son to get a 1.)
The real question is did you charge a clean up fee for the pee? LOL
