Travis K, the billionaire supervillain going postal.
what about Travis K starting another rideshare company?
the fact that they only pay drivers pennies...
At this point, no one will kill Uber. Regardless of what happens, they will survive in one shape or another, whether it's the technology, employees, office buildings, users, drivers, assets they own, investors, etc. etc. When a company reaches a certain size, they will live on even if its under a different name.
Now, what might kill Uber the name and its branding? Well, it's difficult to believe that from happening, because we already use the word "Uber" in our daily lives. I think it's stuck and here to stay, folks.
Yeah, what's the OP saying about "KILLING" it. Nothing will kill them at this point. Even if SoftBank changes the name to TravisRides or Didi buys 100% of it, Uber is around in many ways, right? or did I take it too far?
Driverless cars created by a company other than Uber.
Uber will just buy them. Seriously. The cars, I mean. Well, maybe the company too, depending on who it is...
Right, just like anything, Google will take over and destroy them.
Autonomous vehicles.
Big companies like Google, Toyota, Daimler, Ford, etc. are all working on autonomous vehicles, i.e. robo cars. They will be ready to eliminate the single largest expense of running a rideshare company, the people drivers. Whoever figures that out first will have a huge edge over everyone else. Yes, Uber is working on it, but they are a software company...not a car company.
With that said, the branding of Uber is pretty strong. "Waymo"? Come on. It's well possible Ford will launch a successul auto fleet and have their own "rideshare", but people may just call it "Uber from Ford." LOL.
Nothing. They aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Their public image is already improving post-Kalanick. I just can't imagine them getting dethroned.
their lack of security in screening drivers. People dont want to ride with sociopaths
This is a pretty naive answer, there is danger with everything but in actuality very few drivers are sociopaths and yes, Uber does screen drivers.
They don't do sociopath checks the last time I checked. No mental health checks, as far as I know. Sure they may check criminal and driving records, but those have nothing to do with how creepy they are or how much they are likely to kill in the future.
Do they check for the cognitive test Donald Trump took?
right, the test anyone can pass. 1. Identify this animal (giraffe), 2) Draw a clock, 3) coutn backwards from 11.
No, I may not know how to spell giraffe.
nah, that looks right. but thse creatures? doesn't look right. IMO
yeah strange animal. and that spelling? I started at it too long, I have no indea
Am I the only person who went and looked up the meaning of sociopath?
Sociopath: a person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in extreme antisocial attitudes and behavior and a lack of conscience.
...so, yeah, I guess they can kill.
They do not. and what makes you say there are very few sociopath drivers? Compared to what? These are people who own cars and have driver licenses. Given the position of working alone, I bet you the chances of a Uber driver being higher than a regular public is...well...high.
Right, they're all sociopaths. LOL
