Routes
It depends on where you are going. Lyft drivers use their maps to route their trips, and in most vehicles you can see the route your driver is following using either Waze, Google Maps, or Apple Maps. If you prefer a different route than the one your driver is taking, you can always ask the driver to go a different way instead. They usually are very accomodating to these requests.

Just keep in mind that if you ask your driver to change the route, they are supposed to honor it. Also, remember that the price estimate can change, depending on the route you take. The price is based on duration and distance and there's no guaranteed rate if you request a route change.

I remember when (Lyft I think) said we were supposed to follow the route on the ap, and it was frowned upon to drive otherwise. One document even stated that we could ask the passenger to get a different driver if they did not like it.
