Looking to ride a scooter around Singapore? Want to try Grab’s new eScooter?

GrabWheels is an eScooter service in in Singapore that gives users access to electric scooters throughout the city. Similar to Uber, users simply need to open their grab app and tap the eScooter icon to view scooter locations in their areas. Once you have found a scooter, follow the below steps to start riding!

  1. Walk to the nearest scooter you see on your Grab app. 
  2. Tap on the scooter icon that you would like to ride. Make sure to check the scooters battery level to ensure it has enough juice for your journey!
  3. Scan the QR code on the right side of the scooter handlebar.
  4. Enjoy your scooter ride!

While using your eScooter is as easy as following the four above steps we want to remind you to also always check the following before you ride.

Brakes 

Press the red button to test the brakes. On older models you may need to also step on the rear brake. 

Headlights 

Turn on the headlights by holding the headlight button on the scooter display for 2 seconds

Kickstand 

Check that the kickstand is flipped up before moving

Data/Bluetooth

To ensure you have a smooth ride, make sure your mobile data and Bluetooth are both turned on throughout the entirety of your ride.

Please note that the maximum rental time per scooter is 4 hours and when you finish you need to locate an official GrabWheels parking spot to place your scooter. Parking spaces are marked with a ‘P’ on the map in your Grab app. Scooters that are not parked in a designated spot will result in a $10 fine. Once you have parked your scooter, scan the QR code located at the parking spot and tap ‘End Trip’ in the app.

 

How do I ride a Grab Scooter?

If you have never ridden an eScooter before it might seem intimidating but as long as you start off slow you will get the hang of it in no time! Here are some good tips to help you get started!

  1. Start the scooter by kicking once with your foot and pressing the right green button. Start off slow and increase your speed once you start to feel comfortable.
  2. Slow down or stop by pressing the left red button located on the handlebars.
  3. If needed, you can ring the bell on the handle bars to alert any pedestrians who may be in your way.
  4. If you are riding in the dark, make sure to turn on the scooters headlights by holding the headlight button down for 2 seconds.
     

There are also a few rules put in place by the LTA that you will need to follow.

How much does GrabWheels cost?

GrabWheel eScooters start at $0.50 per every 5 minutes. Payment can be made through the app. Grab also has Ride Plans available to help you save money if you will be riding scooters frequently. The plans are as follows:

Note: Ride Plans cover the first 30 minutes of each ride and you will be charged the standard rate of $0.50 / 5 minutes thereafter.
