Uber and Postmates Deal

In less than a month after losing out on a deal with GrubHub, Uber has made a second offer, this time looking to buy Postmates. Postmates, another upstart delivery service, has grown substantially since it was founded 9 years ago and was last valued by investors to be worth $2.4 billion. This deal could really strengthen Uber’s food-delivery business, Uber Eats, which would help to compensate for the lost revenue the company is experiencing from it’s core ride-hailing model due to Covid-19.

According to The New York Times, Uber is discussing buying Postmates for around 2.6 billion, however, this …

just eat takeaway and grubhub

There has been a lot of talk recently about Uber eats potentially combining forces with Grubhub. However, the rumors were officially quelled when European delivery app, Just Eat Takeaway came out of nowhere and made a deal with Grubhub forcing UberEats to drop out.

Just Eat Takeaway acquired Grubhub for $7.3 billion, forming the world’s largest online food delivery company outside of China. This new merger is going to provide some serious competition for both UberEats and the current US market leader, Doordash.

UberEats is already in an unprofitable situation, having lost $313 million last quarter. If they had been …

sick pay for uber lyft drivers

Not much good has come out of the Covid-19 pandemic but one new law, pushed into action by Covid-19, could positively change the working landscape for gig workers.

When gig based work started decreasing due to the pandemic and stay at home orders, gig workers found themselves struggling to make ends meet with no financial help in sight. After a few weeks of living under the blight of Covid-19, Uber, Lyft and others started to put together agreements to pay drivers and delivery personnel who missed work because of the virus. Now Seattle is on the cusp of making sick …
