Requesting an accessible vehicle through the Lyft app

One benefit of the advent of rideshare services is how wheelchair accessible vehicles are more readily available for passengers with accessibility needs. Lyft has dedicated an entire mode within their app to help passengers get around who need additional vehicle space and help. This mode is called Access Mode and we are going to walk you through how to enable Access Mode within your Lyft app. When Access Mode is enabled, passengers may request a vehicle that is designed to accommodate a full-sized, non-foldable wheelchair.

Uber to Require Some Passengers to Take Mask Selfies

Recently, Uber drivers have been voicing their concerns over the amount of passengers who refuse to wear masks while inside their vehicles. Furthermore, while Uber technically states that a rider must wear a mask at all times within a rideshare vehicle, they have done little to enforce this rule. This, unfortunately, leaves drivers in an uncomfortable position when they encounter a rider who refuses to wear a mask. Uber’s New ExpressMatch at Select Airports

In an effort to reduce wait times and overcrowded curbs at airports, Uber has rolled out a new program called ExpressMatch. According to Uber ExpressMatch improves ride safety, efficiency, and consistency by combining the best parts of their Prematch and PIN technology. Uber claims that through ExpressMatch, rider wait time at airports will be cut down to almost zero.

New Uber and Lyft Pickup Location at Dulles International Airport

While having to walk away from the terminal curb to catch your rideshare is common practice now at some airports, Dulles International Airport just made the switch this weekend. The curbside traffic at Dulles was getting out of hand and as a result officials created a new curb pickup location dedicated solely for rideshare pickups.

Jerome L Davis, the executive vice president and chief revenue officer at the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, is hopeful that this new solution will “help relieve future airport roadway congestion and simplify the process for connecting passengers with their driver”.

Will Uber and Lyft Really Pull Out of California this Week?

Uber and Lyft are threatening to halt their ridesharing service in California after a judge rejected the companies’ effort to delay an order that forces the companies to classify drivers as employees. The popular ridesharing companies were given 10 days to reclassify their drivers in California as employees which according to Uber and Lyft is near impossible. The deadline to reclassify is now only 3 days away, August 20th, and Uber and Lyft have said that if they are forced to stick with this deadline that they will need to “go dark” in California for some time.
