Remember that you are the Captain of your ship and let no one disturb your peace. If someone tries to look down on you it is because he or she have a low self esteem. If someone raises their voice and /or becomes vuglar cancel the ride immediately and notify your app company to protect yourself.Never lower yourself to their standards nor be embarrassed at your occupation . As long as your behind the wheel and performing a service you are a driver and there is no shame in working for a honest days pay.
I will wait as long as I get paid . It's hardly ever 5 or 10 minutes .

Your better off working for a company with your stated hours and days. Uber destroyed the taxi business but cov19 and cheap passengers are their downfall.
I would never buy a lux car to do taxi work for poverty income.
I can't speak for all but here in NYC the medallion owners got the royal shaft and their case is still in court. Any for hire vehicle should always be priced higher then a yellow cab and that should be a law for a fair game . We do not need a Uber for every resident in NYC nor do we need uber x and pool is now cess pool officially. On top of this fair game should be a mandatory 15% surcharge that goes directing to the driver because of A holes who think tipping is a trend or two dollars is good for a $50 fare.
No you do NOT that privilege to force a driver to anything you want . No shortage of stupid people.
That is not the solution; it is very unhealthy for the driver to consistently wear a mask and you cannot legally enforce that policy . They never cease to take rights away . A better solution is to install safety partition from floor to roof .
You should never ever directly or indirectly beg for a tip and degrade yourself in a manner that most passengers do . Post cov19 will end that problem and if you think rates are high now with until it's business in full swing .
The amenities you will most likely see is a partition between you and the driver which will be known as vehicle social distancing.
The partition is mostly for the driver and he or she will have to spray a sanitizer after each drop.
The TLC is comprised of stupid people that can't get a educated job . Now that we are facing a deadly virus the partition is the shield of the driver where no one sits in the front and that section is all yours .
Any limousine coach builder or even a carpenter can make one from wood but it has to be peramant with sliding glass or pexi glass like the yellow taxi has. On their side of your your parition you can install phone charger , candy and water holder and etc . Of you must have a large vehicle where there is room for you and them
App driver's have no medallions so they have a right to accept or not accept a job

Don't fall into the hype of the word ride share because you are a private taxi driver and for that reason there should be standardized training program. I'm 1986 I went to a one week taxi school in NYC plus a three month probation before I was issue a standard hack license . There is so much to learn and having a foundation of training really helps .
I drive a taxi because its less stress of ownership , and its get in and get out for passengers . Best of all passengers do tip because they are not in a Uber car and my average tip gross is 30%
