Remember that you are the Captain of your ship and let no one disturb your peace. If someone tries to look down on you it is because he or she have a low self esteem. If someone raises their voice and /or becomes vuglar cancel the ride immediately and notify your app company to protect yourself.Never lower yourself to their standards nor be embarrassed at your occupation . As long as your behind the wheel and performing a service you are a driver and there is no shame in working for a honest days pay.
The NYC TLC is a portal for hell with their lunatic summons and inspectors with a IQ of 48 . The commissioner appointed by our useless mayor has no working knowledge of the taxi industry nor does her staff in which one of them said " if yellow cabs want to compete they should remove their partitions " Really ??? Morons !!!! Drivers are leaving and or killing themselves because there is too many F****in cabs on the street in which the city has profited from and posed a security risk due to congestion. Let's be real here and I can only speak for NYC when Communist Uber rolled in and the rates were premium for that particular kind of service. The drivers were earning a high rates with bonuses with non slavery hours. The conduct of app companies and their riders is ungodly and disgraceful to say the least . Lyft went public so they could avoid all the labor lawsuits against them and as of this comment the stock is sinking and hopefully goes into the bowels of hell where it belongs.

News flash : We are owner operators with no meters or a taxi light . If I want to cancel for whatever reason I will do so but at my expense unless the passenger has misled me on the pickup point or in a hard to reach location . Now you can keep your $5 and glue it to your forehead.

It would be polite not to rate the driver due to no fault issue . Cars break, tires go flat, accident s may happen , a driver falls ill and etc.

The gig economy is good for second income but to do it full time in my opinion is a loss because you are buying a job and not a business.
