What is real-time ridesharing? Is that different from regular ridesharing?
No, I think that's just for the driver beacon. I have never seen one in action though to be honest. It's either I don't know what I am looking for or drivers don't support it.
Holding up the phone in a certain color is a great idea. I feel like that is an easy feature for Uber to build.
Let the riders have some responsibility in flagging the driver.
Lyft is trying to make it so people will use them for everything, essentially replacing public transportation.
Good point on the driver’s take. They take the whole thing. One thing Uber did right.
Scheduled rides don’t have cancellation fees as long as they are cancelled before the rider is matches up with the rider. Then you have a few minutes to cancel
I also found out recently that drivers can blacklist passengers by rating them 4 or lower. Not a complete black list. It's that they won't be matched up with that driver.
Oh, there are dicey areas full of white people too.
Gotta admit, I do avoid "dicey" (or high crime) areas especially night. We can pretend all we want but driving a taxi or uber is still considered a very dangerous and violence-prone job. That's just the reality. Why increase the risk.
Well, we sort of knew that as the market gets saturated, people's compensation would go down.
Many economists predicted this. Think about it: Anyone can do it. Everyone is a potential service provider. The gig economy provides infinite supply to the market.
With infinite supply of workers, the earnings will natrally come down. (The demand may rise due to convenience of mobile apps; however, it's the falling price that seems to be driving the demand.)
Gosh, ain't that the truth. My thought exactly. Too much discrimination will occur. or many will be accused of it.
It's not like they check or enforce it anyways.
I'd suppose, when this becomes an issue is when something happens. Like when a driver needs to defend him or herself and the knife is pulled. At that point, it'll be interesting to see what side Lyft takes on the matter.
What were you late to? An interview? Important pitch meeting? You are killing me.
Kristen,
Nice post. You should next create one for passenger ratings!
I suppose Uber can take on that cost. Done for the goodness of their own hearts.
Is that the same as UberAir.
I was just googling and I ran into this. http://www.skyuber.com
I woder what that website was....
How do they know who is KKK
Didn't someone ask this once?
Everyone said weather. I guess the context of this question matters. What are you trying to accomplish? Have a good conversation? Trying to shut them up? Trying to get a juicy story?
Probably for when the charges get reversed due to rider complaints?
Yeah, I second that. This is a consumer business. Please make sure you provide coverage for everyone.
These people shouldn't be dissed just because the drivers just wanna know.
This is why you carry a brick in your vehicle. Just jam it in, so the gas pedal is stuck. THEN you jump out.
Well, we don't tip everyone in the service industry. So the attention has to be a level down in the detail.
Private cars and with car services, we didn't tip. The American culture didn't tip. That's where Uber started, right? With black cars? That "culture" bled into UberX when it opened up.
No tip (and hence lower rate) and the "cashless" experience were the reasons FOR Uber AGAINST taxis. so...
One thing I learned is to never take legal advice from a police officer.
You know, I live in CA, and I thought they had this figured it. I mean how could they be pushing this if they hadn't, right? China had major issues in the past decade with rental bicycles, so I suspected they worked out the kinks.. ....but no.....
Like you said, there is no accountability to what happens when the clock isn't running.
