How reliable is Uber for early morning pickups to airports?
A man after my own heart. I totally agree with your point on how an Uber app is just a tool to bring people together, and, after it has done that, it's just me personally giving this person a ride.
Stop being a bunch of douchebags. Diversify, hire women, start letting creative juices flying through the workforce, create a sense of community, etc. etc.
Stop with the old boy's club. Stop with the shady practices.
It resminds me of the Refer Your Friend popups that we always used to get. Then there was the Amex ones. Save 5% or whatever. Then I saw UberEats for a little while. I also remember pages plastered with "Become a driver and make $1500."
Oh, I just checked and I see Jimmy John's 10% for using VISA. I don't even know if there is a Jimmy John's around here. Come on, Uber.
That's a great point you make here. If the drivers become employees, they'd all flock to Uber because of their market penetration. No more free market and competeition. Uber will be able to set their own prices and do whatever they want.
I mean, taxi drivers aren't employees in most cities either. So what the heck is going on here?

I feel so bad for this driver in the video. The girl saying he's creepy and her pointing at his head.
I know you are being rhetorical but it's because the driver that was 4 minutes away decided to not pick you for whatever reason.
Can we just get a flying car before we get a flying taxi?
Lyft is getting desperate to keep the image of being "more friendly than Uber." Taking a beating recently.
People are starting to realize they're all the same.

I'd do much worse for $1B dollars. Much much worse.
dont' judget me
I do want to hear more about the conflict resolution ideas Uber will put into place. I sure they dont plan on pushing liability to the drivers claiming they are independent contractors.
Cleaning and insurance will be a huge hurdle.
It already is. McDonald's aren't restaurants. I guess they do serve food. and has a place to sit.
but they don't bring food to the table.
That is so lazy. I am speechless.
You know...I was going to point out your douchebaggery but with taxis and limos present in every market, I am not sure why I'd need another comapny to call for a ride. The secret sauce may be in the fact they cater to the older generation?
Yeah, but being recorded is a whole another story. Your words can be used against you and who knows what the drivers may do with it.
Think a celebrity. I am sure the drivers can sell that to TMZ or something too. It pisses me off.
super creepy to think we are being recorded. does that include sound too? So everything we say and do are now on record? I am not sure how I feel about this. Doesn't this somehow go against my privacy rights?
It drums up the business as it is a new channel to gain customers. It isn't shabby to have Uber promoting your restaurant.
See, our business spends a good chunk of change on advertisements and marketing. So that will play into doing the math.
Uber allows the restaurants to charge whatever we want, so we can assure we make profit.
Uber, hands down. Are you kidding? Have you been in a taxi?
But is Lyft investing in the future? What is their positioning with autonomous vehicles? Maybe they are fighting hard to capture marketshare for a market that'll be left in the dust when the robotaxis start roaming.
Uber invests heavily in AVs. I think they have their sights set on the future. Not this current job where they lost craploads of money while fighting legal issues with drivers and cities every day.
