As a driver, have you kicked out a passenger? Ended a ride early mid-trip?
Please do share. Remember when some dude died after getting kicked off Lyft? I can't help it to think he …
It was a sign for a new furniture store opening. Maybe it was a limited time thing so no one cared?
though I can see why he'd want to quit that job. probably just never went back.
I had someone leave his sandwich board in the trunk. He never claimed it back, and it sat in my garage for months.
I am talking about one of those you hang over your shoulders and you stand on the street corner.
Increase mileage rates. It'll serve everyone good and it'll end up saving the industry.
Improve GPS quality, please. Why not make it work as well as Google Maps or Wave and consdider traffic.
It's part safety for when you do get stuck on the road. People died in the Blizzard of 1977.
Also, as an Uber driver, I have a blanket, because I often take naps. What did you guys think we do between trips?
Oh, man. I wasn't threatened by them until I saw this post. Thanks!
I will not blame these bicycle companies, but I guess now that Uber will start offering it, I feel a bit slated. Yes, that will be a direct competition.
I mean, this Bike option will be inside the Uber App, right? Eventually?
Ooooh, I am not trying to be funny here. Condoms.
First hand experience as a driver. I've been asked by passengers MULTIPLE times for condoms. It happens fairly regularly that I actually thought about carrying some and selling them. I felt creepy so I never did it, but I mean, imagine the premium you can charge on those!!!
Wait a minute. It's true that many drivers do drive for both Uber and Lyft but most do stick with one service and use the other as a backup. This is to make sure they get the promotions offered by their primary company.
Also, Lyft drivers are a subset of Uber drivers. There are plenty of drivers who do NOT drive for Lyft.
In terms of the quality of service? Well, it depends on the driver, of course. but in general? Lyft drivers are more niche and perhaps more accustomied to and are "regulars" at driving. So they may be better drivers. At least "more "dedicated" drivers.
Uber passengers keep you waiting longer.
I confirmed this with a bunch of other drivers. Uber users seem to keep you waiting longer for pickups and not as courteous as Lyft users.
Not sure why. It just is. Yes, Lyft pax seem to be happier and more respectful. Dont' ask me why. Uber pax are often jerks, drunk, or condescending.
As long as you let me know how long it will be and you show some appreciation, no problem.
Oh, in case you are wondering if we would just end the ride and drive off? (like cabbies used to?) No, that wouldn't happen with Ubers because you'd give us a bad rating! :)
My shortest was 15 seconds. I picked up her in front of a mall and I drove her kitty corner away to the restaurant. She was not disabled. She got off, without a word. I really couldn't tell if she was super embarassed or totally meant to do it.
You are missing the point. They need to make a point to be on time and to find the driver. We have limited places we can go, and we always arrive at the pin.
and there is no hiding out. You can find me in the app on a GPS. If you are so entitled or too stupid, you don't deserve to be driven.
I am gonna side with the driver on this one. You probably weren't at the exact location and the driver couldn't find you. You were late. Please do not disrespect us drivers. Time is money, and we don't have time to be dealing with your unorganized mess.
You know, this is why I take the no-show fee over the minimum fare on any day. It's pax likes these that make me just go to the pin and do nothing. I don't even bother messaging the pax anymore. Just wait out the time I am upposed to, and I cancel.
If the pax disrepects me by making me wait or too stupid to find out where I am, they deserve to be charged. Only real consequences will teach these people. I am doing a better deed for other drivers by forcing them to educate themselves.
If you as a driver have the expectation of a tip, you are going to be driving around angry quite a bit.
This is when I was still driving a taxi, but I had this one couple who tried to pay me in songs. The guy had a guitar and she sang the songs. They even made the song about me after asking a few questions. I really really really wish I had a recording of it. It was wonderful and a fond memory from the days I drove in NYC.
I've had the same exact experience. Haahaa
So that "sweet thing" you mention... See, that is a double-edged sword because of the surge. If there is a new surge at the location of the cancellation, you make out. but what if the trip already had one, and there was no longer one? The rider just got away from paying the surge for the whole trip.
It's possible that the minimum fare may cover the difference, I guess.
LOL - "Lots will go missing driving into tunnels."
I drive in the burbs of New Mexico and 4.5 is considered super low. That's bad. I havent' even seen it, then I have 4.91 rating, so maybe they keep me with better riders.
