I watched a video interview this week of Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi with David M. Rubenstein the president of the Economic Club. The interview was published by the Economic Club of Washington, D.C. on June 24, 2019, so it is fairly recent. Fair warning, it is pretty lengthy, about 45 minutes but I think it definitely falls under the must watch category if you are a driver for or an investor of Uber.
Not much surprises me any longer when it comes to ridesharing, I still am an active driver with Uber & Lyft, albeit on a very part time …

Today in Part II, I will dig into the economics of this trend, are all these companies in a race to the bottom just like Uber & Lyft with their respective rideshare businesses? Will they ever be profitable? What is the effect of e-scooters on the every day rideshare driver?
These are e-scooters dumped by riders on a walkway in Santa Monica, CA. The cities are struggling creating laws …

In Part I, I am going to dig into the proliferation of thousands of these units taking over the sidewalks and gradually becoming a nuisance for local residents but also creating hazardous conditions for drivers and riders. In Part II, I am going to dig deeper into the economics of the Micro-mobility trend itself and look into the effects of this trend on rideshare drivers. Since all these companies are jumping in with both feet, it must be a very …
