If you need emergency assistance during your Lyft ride, you can now easily request help discreetly from the Lyft app. In partnership with ADT, Lyft has enabled a new safety feature that allows riders and drivers to quickly get help if they ever feel they are in an unsafe situation.
Lyft riders can request help discreetly by tapping ‘Alert 911 silently’ in the Lyft app. You have 10 seconds to cancel the request, after the 10 second period a member of the ADT team will contact law enforcement and share your location details. You will not be contacted by phone, unless requested.
Unlike riders, drivers that activate their ADT alert will always be contacted by phone by an ADT representative. If the call is not answered, then ADT will contact 911 and provide your location details.
Both riders and drivers will be able to access real-time updates in the Lyft app with the status of their emergency request.
Lyft is excited for this feature, stating that they are “committed to providing the tools and support our community needs to feel safe every time they ride or drive. We’re proud to work alongside ADT, America’s most trusted name in security, to enhance the standard of safety for the entire rideshare industry.”
