Have you lost an item in your Uber? Here is the best way to ensure you get your lost item back!
The first step (and best way) to retrieve a lost item in an Uber is to contact your driver. Uber has outlined the below process for contacting your driver.
1. Open the Uber app and tap the menu icon, then "Help"
2. Tap "Trips and Fare Review" and select the trip you took
3. Tap "I lost an item," then "Contact my driver about a lost item"
4. Enter your phone number and tap "SUBMIT"
Once you have completed these steps, Uber will call the phone number you have entered and connect you with your driver. Once you are connected with your driver, confirm that they have found your lost item and find a mutually convenient time and place to coordinate a return. If they do not answer the phone, leave a detailed voicemail explaining the situation and the best way they can contact you.
It is important to note that a $15 fee will be charged to your Uber account once your lost item is returned to compensate the driver for their time.
Also, if you left your item in an Uber that was ordered on someone else’s account, you should have the person who holds the account complete the above steps in order to be connected to the correct driver and to avoid confusion!
If more than 24 hours have passed since you've tried contacting your driver about a lost item, or if this an emergency, fill out the information at the bottom of this page.
Lastly, sometimes drivers will turn in lost items at their local greenlight hub or a local police station. If you cannot get in touch with your driver, try calling or visiting these places.
