I'd love to roll as never picking up underage passengers EVER, but I highly suspect I have been driving them. If they have an Uber account, they are supposed to be 18. None of my business...right?
I don't know the exact contet. I feel like you built up some bad rapport with the driver if he is refusing to give it back or to make an arrangement. Did you do something to make him mad?
...or is he just saying he can't find it?
Either way, calmly message the driver you'd appreciate it if he can meet up with you for a predetermined tip amount. Time and distance driven are money to them. Make sure to offer an amount that compensates for his expenses. If you go through Uber, they'll automatically charge your credit card and the fee will be passed on to the driver. However, even that isn't enough sometimes. It's your phone, it's worth hundreds of dollars, and after all it is your fault. Offer a reward and pay his expenses.
Also don't forget the opportunity cost. He has to stop working to deliver your phone.
Just make sure to tip enough next time. The difference.
on the way to pick up a passenger? Not so much. I do get the frustrated, "where the hell are you" kind of texts sometimes, but on one who told me to outright "hurry." Well, I guess asking me where I am is a passive way of telling me to hurry
Once they are in the cab, I do have quite a number of people who do ask me. Often business travelers. Some are outright mean about it. It try to be empathetic but I don't overly try hard. This is our livelihood, and I am not going to break the law for you
how do you drown in an ecstacy? or is that literal? like a batch/barrel full of ecstacy pills?
Or just work TWO days for 6 hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Say 6:30 to 2AM. I bet you will make more money in those 12 hours than you do in your 40.
"rare to go more than 5 minutes?!" Wha... Oh yeah, I bet it's area specific....
Amazing. I sit more than i drive, by far. Unless I have multiple long-distance trips, I wouldn't hit 50-50.
Well, to answer your question... No, they do not. The way they complain, I think they think we get to keep all of it.
Actually, it does more than that. It has like a personalized greeting and updates you on the ride and stuff.
Yes, they are free. Being offered to busy drivers in prominent markets.
I think it's a form of advertising for Uber and Lyft. and some to do with building up loyalty with drivers.
Yeah, as long they dont' smoke in my car, I am cool.
Now, i am always on the fence when a guy with massive Body Order comes on board. Tough call.
The drivers need to rise up!!
WEll? So which is it? more or less tips?! Enough to cover expenses or what?
I agree. I get those requests but it's usually casual and courteous. It's totally ok for people to at least ask. I empathize with their situation, and I try to help them out within the boundaries of my comfort.
so it all depends on the context. be nice about it, and ask away. It may change my driving habit and some decisions slightly. Sure.
Well, the simplistic answer is that we drive to locations where there are most fares. Some drivers may disagree because they hate short riders and maybe urban areas during traffic, but in 99% of cases, we try to be where the riders are.
So, usually we do drive to places with higher activities and where more demands are.
Sometimes chasing surges are helpful. It's slightly a lazy way to find where the pepole are, but according to Uber, that's where the most demand is and the supply (drivers) are low.
Might as well have people ask than them wonder and not tell the rest. I'd rather people ask and learn than assume otherwise.
big retailers like Target, etc. Also, remember that we often go to transportation hubs (naturally) like train stations where there are bathrooms. (assuming we can park)
There's usually a Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts or something near these hubs though. Almost without exception.
no they aren't. I mean, they might be smart, but they are cheap. Everyone wants to save money. The price differential for UberX and SUV are pretty big. That's big bucks to carry those extra suitcases.
I have seen people who order UberX and hope a larger car would show up. I seriously suspected people who kept ordering and cancelling until they got an SUV (i.e. free "upgrade" as Uber calls it). Messed up, right?
Well, unless Uber is intentionally sending more rides toward male drivers. we all know what kind of a male dominated workplace they have.
Those are the "me me me" people. Sort of make sense, right? These are the people who cannot NOT have things their way. They want the temperature adjusted? Listen to certain stations? They cannot imagine not having it their way even for a few minutes. Just get over yourself.
This one gets two prizes. Being short and arriving at the same location. $4.00
