I'd love to roll as never picking up underage passengers EVER, but I highly suspect I have been driving them. If they have an Uber account, they are supposed to be 18. None of my business...right?
I assume you are looking for eccentric items. I do find phones, purses/wallets, and shirts, but those are a given.
Sunglasses, kid's stuffed animals (I know sad), earrings, and tiny jewelery things.
So you think that's what this is? Sent to every UBer driver and it sits in the back? That's actually not a bad idea.
actually, with Lyft, you can now leave feedback 24 hours later.
Stop subsidizing every ride and actually charge money that it costs to provide the service. In other words, raise the price. What are you thinking? Is this some predatory approach to squeeze the other rideshares and those poor taxi companies?
Hell yah, it's a thing.
When I heard about this miraculous rideshare app that can hail me a cab from the smartphone, I thought all my problems were over. Yes, catching a taxi is almost impossible as a black person in this country. I can still hear the obnoxiously loud lock on taxicabs as I approach the cars. After a while, you learn to not take any taxis.
Then I noticed that Uber isn't that much different. The driver can still cancel you when they show up. They make all kinds of reasons. They aren't going in that direction. They wanted to finish the shift and they didn't mean to pick you up. or the most common; no explanations at all. Just cancel and drive off.
Now I am a driver. Hehehe.
LYFT PASSENGERS TIP MORE . BY FAR.
Most likely due to the history where Lyft has long time offered tipping in their app and Uber only recently, it's more built into the culture of Lyft passengers. 80% of the time, I get tips from passengers, and they are 10~15%.
With Uber? It's more like 40~50% tipping and they tip like 2~5 bucks, regardless of the trip.
Uber used to display the number of minutes, and it used to be super inaccurate. I'd see 15 minutes and I would wait 30 minutes. If it says 30 minutes, that's 1.5 hour. I am not even joking. The way it did the math was really weird too. You'd think it's estimating on some simple math, like, "1 minutes per car in front of you", but it wasn't. It would recalculate your position like GPS would do for your remaining driving time.
No, you cannot. All additional passengers are accepted automatically. You have no means of intervening. You get what you get.
Makes sense, right?
Dashcams
Depreciation of your vehicle!
Super short trips: $1~2
Medium 5~10 mile trips: $2~3
Longer trips: 15%.
"I know I requested you take me to XXXXX. Can you take me there, complete the trip, but then take me to YYYY and I pay you cash?"
I get variations of this question maybe every few months? I assume these are people who want to cover their tracks. Like a cheating spouse or a kid who needs to shake off their parents' grasp.
We drivers know all the secrets of people.
The thing is, as this OP wonders, why not, right? It's technically possible for Uber to pass on this revenue to the drivers. They just decide not to.
Ooohhhh, boy. You just threw a firecracker in the snake pit.
As a driver, I do get requests to deliver things from time to time, but I never accept. Who knows what I am delivering! Drugs? Guns? Kidneys?
I am sure Lyft will copy it just like everything else.
Absolutley nothing.
I signed up, went through a background check, and I was ready to drive that same day. No classes I had to attend, no tests or certifications to pass, not even documentation or videos to walk me through what I am to do. (this was like a year ago)
I remember receiving a text message saying I can chat with a person to learn more. like texting each other back and forth. I mean...that's not training
I assume, if I logged in and navigated to certain parts of the website, I'd be able to find some material.
Maybe you didn't think of it because you are a good person. a normal well-balanced person.
Don't you even think about it.
One can argue whether it does anything besides letting Uber know of the real bad ones which enable them to deactivate the bad apples. I mean, it's not like the Amazon marketplace where customers have a choice between which product to buy.
I have heard that if you have good ratings you get matched up with good riders with good ratings. However, I am not sure if there's that much truth to that from my experience.
I am not sure abotu that, but Uber monitors three driver metrics with high importance:
Driver Star Ratings - Known fo deactivate the users if it's ower than 4.60 or so. I believe the threshold isn't a hard number. Probably depends on the market.
Acceptance Rate - This is how often you actually accept the request that comes to your app. If it's too low, Uber will send you a nastigram. I am not sure how low you can go before you get deactivated though.
Cancellation Rate - This in my mind should carry a heavier penalty, and I know Uber does indeed deactivate driers for that. Perhaps it's all in combination.
I am a driver. Riders who take short rides seem to likely not tip. I am not sure if it's the type of people or if most people don't feel like they need to tip short rides. but it's quite the opposite. If you take a $3.00 ride, please give us a few extra bucks. They go a long way...
