   5 years ago in  What happen if the Uber driver's mobile get switched off before ending the trip?

  I am that shameful driver who has let the phone die in the past.  I also had a period where the Uber app would continuously crash on me.  you are right that most of the time, it came back up, but sometimes, the app will just act like there was no ride at all.  

  I wonder if there is like an auto-cancel built in?

  The problem about the name check is that once the info is divulged you can no longer rely on it anymore. So if you slip and blurt out your name (or your friend yells it out, e.g. “Goodbye, Steph!”, there’s no longer another way to verify the identity of the driver. This isn’t reliable at all. 

  I’d hate for the code thing. Can we just check the vehicle information and license plate that rely on state mandated info and be okay with it?

  As for protecting the drivers, yeah, that part makes sense. Drivers just need to know what to ask for.

   5 years ago in  Fake surges going on for over and hour and drivers in that area not being able to catch a ride in that busy area at all during the surge- (Los Angeles)-Total manipulation of riders and drivers.

  Under the new surge system, the surge follows you once you enter a surge area.  You just have to hit it, and even if you leave, the next ride gets hit with a surge. I know it doesn't seem fair to the rider, but that's just the way it works now.

  Then some are so negative.

  Some experts are already expressing concerns about the gesture, suggesting it could be an olive branch intended to mitigate a potential public relations nightmare about how the company treats its drivers.

   5 years ago in  Uber and Lyft could have shown some love (if they were sincere)

  There were lots of talks around this. Like how stocks were offered to top Lyft drivers and Uber is still considering it   

   I never looked into them but I guess they alll were just rumored fanned by the media or hopeful drivers themselves. 

  You hit on the nail that some people are about to get uber rich.

   5 years ago in  Best Way to Sleep in a Big City?

  You have to do the math.  IS $40 worth it? If you went home, that would be 3 hours round-trip to your home plus half tank of gas at $25. So that's $15 for 3 hours or $5/hour.  Is that worth it to you?

  Oh, then you have to take into account the wear on your car, tolls, and parking...

  It's not like I am trying to drive underage people. They just ignore the rules and use Uber anyways. Sure, I guess I can be checking people's IDs but that's easier said than done. If the passenger is always on the car, that'd be the easiest way to get a negative rating.

  I don't mean to use ignorance (of not kwowing the age) as an excuse, but how can I be at fault if it's those people breaking the rules and not me.

  What's Uber's stance on this anyways?  I am thining nothing.

  I live and drIve in constant fear about lots of things. 

  - Wrongfully accuses of attacking or harassing my female or underaged passengers.

  - Driving over a child...or anyone for that matter. 

  - Getting into an accident and being blamed and enduring a long court case, while I am not able to drive  

  - On a second thought, really wrongfully being accused of anything.
