It's actually not 2 minutes for UberX and 1 minute for UberPool.
This was changed a while ago. Maybe as part of Uber's "180-day to change" initiative.

Yes, you can modify the passenger ratings after the fact. You may want to do this if you made a mistake or something else has happened since the trip that made you want to change it.
Here’s how you do it in the Uber Driver app.
- Uber App →
- Earnings →
- Select a trip (or a passenger) you have issues with
- Tap Help →
- Issue with a Rider →
- I want to Change my Rating for a Rider
Then you can modify the ratings and leave a reason why you wanted to change it.
Nope. Philly is a big city. Then again I am a driver and don't take Uber that often in the city.
I heard this was only “affecting” certain drivers. It was a phased rollout. I even heard it went away and then came back again.
It’s just like the estimated ride time. Some drivers got it and some drivers don’t. I heard guys in RI all had it but not here in PA. Cherrypicker’s dream.
It's basically your locality's inspection. That's what it is in Philly. That's what I assumed anyway.
Yeah, it's on my app that the cancellation in Philly is $5 for Philly. I think it's pretty much flat rate, as driving 5 miles to get to you would basically be at least $5, as per minute and per mile fees are higher.
This is actually a crappy reminder for us drivers, that we are still losing money even if we get the cancellation fees. We just drove for much less than what we would have made actually driving a passenger.
I thought the base price for UberXL in Philly was $3.00
Oh, booking fees? Isn't it $2.00 for UberX and $2.25 for UberXL? I'd have to go check mine. UberPool was the same as UberX, if I remmeber correctly.
Right, there's already a precedence and expectation set with the pizza delivery.
I don't necessarily blame the people bexcuse there are neither right now. So we are all trying to establish the precedence and expectation. What a pressure. The income and the traditions of the future are within our hands!!
I an on the road 50 hours a week, and I have never cleared $1000. Barely cleared $900 a few times.
Maybe I am doing something wrong. I am in Philly.

It is because if a driver cancels before they arrive the passenger doesn't get charged. I don't think passengers realize that if the driver is waiting the 5 minute grace period and then cancels, they will still get charged as a no show.
If I arrived and the passenger decides they want me to cancel after I arrive, you better believe I will wait for that timer to hit zero to get my cancellation fee. I tell them too, "I have to wait until the time hits zero before I can cancel." Since passengers are impatient, they will cancel the ride themselves.
That we get paid the living wage? Myth spread by Uber and Lyft.
They still have those billboards up in Philly that we make thousands a week. Come on, now.
A similar question appeared on the site a year ago. I sitll don't get what it's asking for.
How to order Lyft or Uber without texting
Is it referring to the way Uber confirms your phone by texting?
Yes, I have noticed as well, but I was hoping it was just a seasonal thing with the summer winding down. I haven't done this long enough to know what end of August is supposed to be like.
I did sign up for Lyft as well, hoping that'll supplement the slow periods. Maybe? A fellow driver told me that Philly actually has a good number Lyft fans from both rider and driver perspective. Something about the culture and the younger crowd that prefer Lyft?
