I drive in Philly. I start out between Philadelphia and Bensalem around 5pm. Usually a busy area. Past few months increasingly more over past few weeks I've noticed a big decrease in ride request Sunday through Monday. Still somewhat busy late night Friday and Saturday around 10pm until 230am. Saturday afternoon has also been slow. Anybody else experiencing same issue? Just wondering if summer is slower than winter. I only drove weekends for past year just started driving more on weekdays in May. Just curious. Just a side note I dont stay in bad hoods. Once I see I am going into bad hoods I drop off rider & shut app off head back to starting location (its not worth my life to stay in those areas) especially at night. I drive Uber X and XL, only take a few pool requests per night. Appreciate any feedback.
Philly Drivers. Anyone noticing a decrease in ride request in past month?

Hi,
Yes I too see requests are coming in slower, probably due to summer and like you I primarily come out some weekends. Durign the week I start out in Bensalem because that is where my primary job is then head west on Street Rd to get home. Around 8:00pm also hang out in Bensalem/Feasterville while my kid is at practice, do max 2 rides in an hour and half. Usually Lyft though, I am seeing a decline in Uber requests in general, as most passenegrs state Lyft is more economical. I do not do pools and SHared rides. Perhaps try Newtown area this will get you out of the areas you are trying to avoid.
I had a pickup last night that said a lot of people are switching to lyft because "Uber is so crooked as the drivers are not getting the money Uber is". I know we complain about the fares but it was nice to here that riders are finally seeing the light and actually care about the drivers pay. I may just drive Lyft for the week and see how it goes. Thank you for posting
I have heard a couple of similar comments. Some people do get it. Unfortunately most don't or just don't care. They figure we wouldn't be driving if it wasn't worthwhile.
It's funny, for all of Uber's efforts to become the good guy in the past year, they are just becoming a different kind of bad guy.
The new CEO. Travis whatever dont care about the drivers. Uber claims they brought in drivers to help with the app. What driver in their right mind would've suggested or agreed to the new surge? All they did was switch a few things around give it a new look. When trip comes in the print is smaller than it used to be. I accepted 2 pool that i would've normally ignored but I was driving and couldnt stare at screen the print is definately smaller. This guy is no better than the last. They will never care about the drivers because everytime a driver leaves more are hired. I wanted to drive until I finished up school but dont know if I can last that long. I picked up an XL last week rider made a mistake didnt understand. I sent message to support to fix. Somehow when they fixed it Uber made more than I did. I sent support another message that they calculated my fare wrong and they needed to lower booking fee. They gave me the .50 booking fee back but never corrected the trip it…

Uber is dishonest and they will never chamge.

I thought was just me I as well see rides declining also pay had declined Uber starting be a real frustration now seems only weekends worthy
Yes, I have noticed as well, but I was hoping it was just a seasonal thing with the summer winding down. I haven't done this long enough to know what end of August is supposed to be like.
I did sign up for Lyft as well, hoping that'll supplement the slow periods. Maybe? A fellow driver told me that Philly actually has a good number Lyft fans from both rider and driver perspective. Something about the culture and the younger crowd that prefer Lyft?
I did try lyft a few days. I didnt receive too many requests. Out of the 15 I teceived 12 were short rides under 6.00 rides the other 3 were 8.00, 12.00, and 14.00. I didn't accept 4 trips as they were 15 to 20 min. away. I wasnt driving that far for a pickup that was only going a few minutes up the road. I just hope Uber picks up. I dont like driving with the 2 apps on lol. Thank you for your post.
Summer can be kind of a slow time... I am not really sure why. it'll pick up.
