  This was always an obvious scam right? I mean, come on. 

  a $1 "Safe Ride Fee" that supposedly funds "an industry-leading background check process, regular motor vehicle checks, driver safety education, development of safety features in the app, and insurance."

  Why are the charging an extra fee for this stuff, which should be a normal part of doing business for them. Are they saying they weren't doing all that before they added the fee?

  It's obviously just a way to make more money.
