Uber acquires bike sharing company

Guilty of assault? Wanna drive for Uber? No problem, as long as it was eight years ago...
Is it just me or is this a bit lax. "The paper reports that Bivines was charged with assault in …
The idea of just riding along without my hands on the steering wheel.... In this brand new technology that is really not yet proven... just seems stupid. Just plain dumb. Why would anyone do this.
There are SO many rideshare drivers though. They'd need whole damn parking lots for us all over the city.
It's a bit much to call a government-instituted program a "monopoly", dontchya think? It's not like the taxis could capitalize on their so-called "monopoly", since the prices were all regulated.
Taxis got screwed. Medallion owners got screwed. If you want to be mad, be mad at the government for letting Uber swoop in and take over.
company culture is also hard to change. even with the new guy at the top I bet some of this stuff is still going on down below...
fake news
you know you have heard those stories of celebrities tipping $1000 at a restaurant. maybe this guy was famous and the driver didn't know it.
LOL ths is hilarious. I wish this happened more. But be careful. He might dispute this with Uber. "your driver took my money, why did you charge me". i don't think you'd have trouble for one incident but still be careful...
This doesn't even make sense. A flying taxi is a flying car!
What frigging idiot at Uber decided this was a good idea?? What POSSIBLE justification can there be? I cannot think of any reason why a driver would need to know this information. Utterly ludicrous.
AVs are going to clog the roads up. I don't care how smart they are, they are not going to bust through gridlock unless they pick up the ability to fly.
Maybe some ultra violence to go with it.
I was gonna say it doesn't seem so bad. London has a £11.50 congestion charge. That's like $15-16.
Regarding the uber crash last week. "A video shot from the vehicle’s dashboard camera showed the safety driver looking down, away from the road. It also appeared that the driver’s hands were not hovering above the steering wheel, which is what drivers are instructed to do so they can quickly retake control of the car."
Ok so this car which can't go 13 miles without someone intervening did not have a human driver for all intents and purposes. Uber basically unleashed this unreliable robot car on public roads and someone got killed.
Did he install that lighting himself? I guess I'm trying to understand it. Does he think he'll get more rides with LED lights in his ceiling?
Yeah it's hard to tell. I think he just means Uber was investing a ton of money between the two. Probably they'll strike a deal with gojek soon as well would be my guess.
Great now uber has to enforce some sort of standards for profile pics. this is why we can't have nice things.
Sure starts to make owning a car seem super expensive...
This does not sadden me. Rental cars are so expensive in some places, and you may not even use it more than just getting to/from airport and a couple of ancillary trips in between.
