DC taxi rule overhaul could cut some regulations in age of Uber, Lyft
Interesting, but it's about seven years too late...https://wtop.com/dc-transit/2020/01/d-c-taxi-rule-overhaul-could-cut-some-regulations-in-age-of-uber-lyft/ -

CNN investigation: 103 Uber drivers accused of sexual assault or abuse

Deadly Uber crash due to medical emergency?
Does anyone know anything more about this? Heart attack or what? https://www.ajc.com/news/local/deadly-uber-crash-leaves-injured-passenger-mother-with-questions/dFTXohYdohCBkBFURzPMUK/
The chain of logic really leads to this obvious conclusion.
Uber/Lyft have increased traffic in major metro areas. To combat this, cities have to somehow limit # rideshare drivers on the road (thus the new TLC rules). In order to meet these demands, Uber/Lyft must place restrictions on drivers to ensure that they are meeting adequate utilization rates. This means drivers cannot be as independent as they have been. And yes it means many drivers simply will not be able to make a living doing this.
Bottom line is that a completely free, unregulated transportation network like U/L have been means more traffic congestion, which cities and their residents are going to be unwilling to continue tolerating.
It really does seem obvious in retrospect. Maybe the medallion system had it right all along 😐 I'm joking but you get my point.
The $43M isn't for being CEO. It's for being in the club. The club of CEOs. Doesn't matter how they perform. They're in the club.
43M seems like a drop in the bucket compared to 5B.
Jim Cramer LOL.
This dude has seen some shit. Hope he got a good tip.
Nice!
Unfortunately Uber has a lot of power now. Political power. Ie. money. Maybe something like this can get passed in a few small localities but let's not get our hopes up for a widespread change.
Look at the bright side, I guess now is the time to buy.
I hope you are right. Maybe it just needs to happen again and again before people really take notice.
Yah I mean if they aren't going to cap drivers... it seems obvious that traffic will increase. They had to have known that, they aren't stupid.
Yah I would say go with a taxi, assuming the taxi stand is closer. It is a damn shame they have made this so difficult. Most airports are like that now and no I don't know of any that have exceptions for mobility limited people.
I don't know. I like the idea of it but unions work best when everyone is involved. If it is voluntary then I don't see how it would be very effective. The strike happened but did anything change? No. Does the public give a rats ass about it? Maybe that day they did. Now they forgot, and so did Uber and Lyft. So it wasn't effective the way I see it.
I mean it makes sense. They don't limit drivers in any way. So why would it make traffic better?
Def lithium batteries at fault... I don't think most people realize how dangerous these batteries we all have in our pockets 24/7 really can be...
FYI link is wrong article. But anyways that is riduculous. Imagine being able to drop $72 million like that. Yeah I'm guessing he's not driving for Uber anytime soon.
It's a good idea but they probably will never do this. I think they rely on drivers being "willing" to drive anywhere. Otherwise no one would want to drive to NYC right.
I think it is going to take a while for the dust to settle after the IPOs. All these changes don't surprise me that much. A lot of these execs will want to cash out as soon as they can after IPO. Heck I would.
I think most Uber drivers would be smart enough to avoid this. Usually these types of scams try to prey on the people like the elderly who are not hip to the ways of the 21st century.
I think that idea is kind of a utopian dream... for Uber. Not gonna happen for most people.
LOL I mean you gotta admire the thinking on this one...
Maybe but I doubt they ever would actually do this. $$$$
