Soooooo ... in predictable Uber fashion they announced a significant change to the UberPro Diamond perk that offers 6% more for mileage and time. They replaced it with a higher quest bonus for Diamond drivers. By my estimates they are offering Diamond drivers an even $1 a ride now for quests versus $.83334 cents previously.

Soooooo ... for obnoxiously short rides you will be making $16.6667 cents more per quest ride and not getting the 6% thus breaking even mostly. For any ride exceeding 3 minutes you are making less now and quite a bit less.

They seriously had Diamonds grind out 700 - 1500 rides these past 3 months to get their 1800 points for new May cycle and 2 days before cycle begins they pull this stunt. I was assuming they would go around $1.25 - $1.50 range to stay on par with the 6% but wow $1!?

Anyone else feel stabbed in the back, lit on fire, kicked down the stairs, and finally urinated on by this pre-IPO move? I love how the announcement starts with “Based on feedback from drivers like you ... “ as if there are drivers out there saying “Please, please Uber pay us less money and present it to us like it’s a gift”.

I stopped paying attention to any types of driver promotions and incentives. Lyft started this trend earlier and Uber  is all over it now.

It’s an obvious attempt to confuse the drivers so they don’t really know how much they’re making. They will do this to make us work harder while making less money.

Chasing ANY rideshare promotion is a losing proposition.  It always has been, and always will be.  UberPro was simply a ploy to get people to do for "status" what they didn't want to pay us for .   The kicker is that to qualify, you have to have a high acceptance rate and low cancel rate, and the only way to do that is to take the undesirable, money-losing runs anyway.

If you want to chase that carrot, I offer you my sincere best wishes.  I don't think I'll qualify again until I raise my acceptance rate approx 20% and lower my cancel rate a pew percentage points.

Sometimes the rideshare gig feels like Thanos snapped his fingers and caused half our pay to cease to exist.

Ha I added the appropriate meme to original post. Uber was right and I do feel much better now working for less.

Well, like everyone says, Uber can do whatever they want, with all the money and power of having a monopoly. Snap of a finger is all it takes.
