Free Lyft Rides for those Impacted by Hurricane Ida

In response to Hurricane Ida, Lyft has activated their LyftUp initiative in Louisiana and Mississippi. LyftUp is a Disaster Response program that Lyft has now activated over 25 times since 2017. LyftUp provides access to free and discounted rides for those who need it most. 

Currently, LyftUp can be used in Louisiana and Mississippi for riders looking to get a ride to designated shelters and/or critical resources. Uber Partners with GetUpside to Bring Promotions to Drivers

On Tuesday, Uber announced that it had recently entered into an agreement with retail technology startup, GetUpside, in an effort to bring new promotions to their pool of drivers. Through this partnership, Uber drivers and delivery personnel will now be eligible for cashbacks and discounts at fuel stations and convenience stores.

This partnership comes at a time when all rideshare companies are struggling to retain drivers. The shortage of drivers is causing companies to look into new incentives and bonuses to entice new drivers to sign up.

Lyft has reinstated their shared rides option after previously cancelling the service due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
