scUber - stupid marketing is accelerating now that they’re public

Uber, Lyft drivers would need lit signs under Jersey City rule
Will this really help in eliminating fake drivers? I would think criminals would simply premeditate their attacks and can just … -
What's the grossest thing you have found in a Lyft or Uber?
-
Do passengers know that Uber often takes half the fare?
Sadly, the drivers are starting to accept this fact as a daily occurrence, but I feel the need to share … -
Why do Uber and Lyft drivers become so angry when riders don't tip?
I am actually a driver myself. I agreed to all the rates and how much I get paid when I …
I. Never. Knew. That.
My conscience has been lifted. Thank you. I always assumed they were paying the surge. Perhaps I should be paying a closer attention to the payout details.
Do you have an example of the ride you can post here? At first glance, I can’t find it on my app.
Oh what about how the surge sticks with the driver who came from a busy area? The surge is dependent on where the driver was before picking you up. This is regardless of where you, a rider, actually is.
So depending on where the driver is from, you could be changing completely different prices.
Driver here. All you need to do is to ask.
Sometimes, we try to go fast in respect to you, because people like to get there sooner than later. Hence, it's all about the communication. If you want us to drive leisurely, that's fine. How fast we drive doesn't have much effect on the price as you'd think. (especially with upfront pricing.
...or you can order from multiple rideshare apps. You can order Uber, Lyft, Juno, etc., at the same time. LOL.
Oooh, there's a catch to this one too. Most drivers use multiple apps, so you may exhaust the local drivers pretty quickly.
Nope. It’s all about the driver availability.
Rides are never guaranteed.
Museum of Science can hold thousands of people... how did they fill it so quickly?
BTW, ladies, that is NOT a urinal. I know you probably haven't seen one, but really. That is not what a urinal is.
thank you.
I feel like there must be a more gray areas between not having a webcam and using the footage for a reality tv.
What people are worried about are privacy. Say, their conversations while they talk on the phone or females being recorded from an "upward" angle.
You won’t be able to sign up for Uber until you have a vehicle. Without a vehicle, you won’t have an auto insurance policy, that they require, and you won’t satisfy their vehicle requirement. (They check what kind of car you have.)
The third thing they look for is license, driving records and sometimes criminal records. I assume you have the last part, but car is definitely necessary.
Oh, of course, unless you rent a car from one of the Uber partners. They have a few partners like Hertz, Turo, etc. I can’t remember the current line up.
Aggressive, dirty, or drunk. Other than that, I think I take anyone.
I agree that they fell behind the time with the dispatching technology. However the taxi industry tried but they couldn’t keep up. Why?
Localized regulations, localized taxi companies, localized taxi and medallion ownerships. There was no centralized organization that could invest, adopt such technology, and implement it everywhere. Uber has no regulations to deal with (in the beginning) and the world as the targetable audience, they had a huge leg up over localized taxi companies.
Speaking of regulations and medallions, the government who enforced those rules on them should have protected them or at the least made a move on Uber at much earlier stages. Not sure if that would have worked, but the complete ignoring of the taxi companies and medallion owners was purely pathetic.
I got a notification from the NY guild that wherever I am, I should stop working at 10AM. They also mentioned that they have been successful in influencing Uber in NYC where they raised the base fare and required tips and stuff
With that said, I don’t think anyone would egg your house or anything if you want to work.
I work flexible schedule so I will take a break tomorrow morning and see what happens.
Stay in place where you booked the ride. Stop walking towards your destination. Stop walking over to the other side of the road. Just stay in place so I can find you.
Did you know that if the driver isn't making an effort to come towards you (upon request), you can cancel without being charged the cancellation fee. Sometimes the Uber app even tells you this.
So that’s a great question. What do I do if I ask but they don’t have an ID?
Think Camry and Taurus. You are probably okay with UberX for a family of four.
What did you drive to the airport? A sedan? Just imagine one extra person (the driver). Did all the suitcases fit in the trunk?
Edited: I first typed “UberXL”. My bad
Nah, dude. That's a good thing. We the drivers pay the commission. That's their take.
Less they take, more drivers make. So that's a good thing.
No. He maybe the one who accepts, doesn’t move, ignores all communications from the rider, and waits until the pax does.
Good question. The poster is referring to before the driver accepts the ride so this “declining” is completely hidden from the customer. To you, the passenger, it’s all happening behind the scenes while the Uber app is spinning.
This basically gives the drivers to pick the type of rides they want. Happy drivers, better service.
The worst thing is that it may take slightly longer for your Uber app to find you a driver.
Uber is just another way for the upper class and Wall Street to suck money away from the real people. No employees at Uber, government officials and investors do any work but get super rich for the people working the street.
