Uber, Lyft drivers would need lit signs under Jersey City rule
Will this really help in eliminating fake drivers? I would think criminals would simply premeditate their attacks and can just … -
What's the grossest thing you have found in a Lyft or Uber?
-
Do passengers know that Uber often takes half the fare?
Sadly, the drivers are starting to accept this fact as a daily occurrence, but I feel the need to share … -
Why do Uber and Lyft drivers become so angry when riders don't tip?
I am actually a driver myself. I agreed to all the rates and how much I get paid when I …
You really cannot make this up.
"The pair forced the driver to take them to an ATM, but the driver only had $12 in his checking account and the cash machine would not dispense any money, police said. The pair kept the driver hostage for about an hour before stopping in a Walmart parking lot near Glen Ellyn. The driver was able to run away, and the two men drove away with his car, according to police."
Amen.
Right. That’s why knowing the lengths of the rides is important to drivers.
I’ve been pinged three times in a row by the same rider once. I assume he or she got dended by all the drivers around me.
Uber should advertise this more, the fact it will be harder to get a ride if you are a jerk of a customer.
Yeah, my car my rules.
You could, but it'll ding your acceptance rate. If you say no to too many requests, bad things can happen. or lose perks.
Yes, the driver just downloads multiple driver apps and just switches between them.
When they are driving customers, they need to turn off the other apps so they don't get pings they can't respond to. It's a pain when you have multiple.
seems like the magnet type is pretty dominant these days. who knew.
my iPhone doesn't charge well through wireless pads when I got magnets in the case. bummer.
Second magnet. genius. thanks for sharing.
You obviously knew the rider. Why rely on Uber and pay them 25+%!!! Just accept cash! You have good thing going.
No idea why you guys didn’t show up on each other’s app. Though that could be for multiple reasons.
Who uses a CD player on the car anymore? No offense. :)
I blow through one every month. I don’t learn and keep buying crappy ones on Amazon for $9.99. It’s usually the plastic part that attaches to the clamps that grab onto the AC vent that breaks.
I honestly have a box full of half broken phone mounts in my office at home.
No, those magnet things don’t work. Not putting my $1000 iPhones on it.
The problem is that we can’t always tell and we don’t wanna be in the business of checking every person’s ID
It’s not like I’m trying to drive underage people.
Great, you just gave me a new fear.
Good point. Stickers and stuff
The airport cops can bust you for not having them.
The funny thing? Thoes same cops use them to identify you as uber drivers to bust you if they catch you picking up at non-designated areas. So it's like those signs are a target on our backs.
I am confused by all of this, btw. I am just a regular dude picking up regular people just as a person would pick up a family member. Why do I have to be treated differently?
nah, think high school kids who still cannot drive. Imagine how much they'd love Uber to get around.
I think this is a rampant issue.
They are advertising in nyC right now. It's for taxi drivers and it isn't a rideshare. Basically, it's like Arro or Curb
I wouldn't jump to conclusion. I still see estimated pickup times.
The email from Lyft (pasted above) says they removed the “estimated trip time." So I am wondering if that isn't the same as pickup times. They had a trial for drivers with high acceptance rate (I think) where they also show you the potential length of the trip. I am wondering if they had turned that feature off for those selected drivers.
Or I am totally wrong and I will lose the pickup times as well. hahaha. no not funny.
James, are you sure about this? If you read their email, it says they removed the “estimated trip time.”
You may have asked them about the pickup time, but maybe they’re referring to the ride time. Lyft started showing that (yes, how long the trip will take after you pickup. And yes before the request) earlier this year in certain markets.
Maybe this email is saying they removed that.
This depends on how busy it is. If it's a busy period and there are surges, trust me, I am outta there! Sorry, I am not in it to make pennies just sitting around.
