Sorta. Driving for Uber basically requires you to work more than the normal 40 hours a week. It isn't constantly a busy job during the day. We get downtime between the fares, and if you took any 8 hour period from 9 to 5, you would definitely have a few hours just waiting.
So, you are basically expected to work more than 8 hours just sitting around.

Taking money from the necessary living expenses is the goal of large corporations. They want it to be less regulated, and they get richer by taking money from the general public. That's the model for the riches to get richer.
Good question but I don't think there is a clear answer. There are indeed lots of people who want to remain part-time, and this group can even be bigger than the full-time professionals. However, it's very difficult to count them as some may only drive once a month or have already quit driving. (just happens to be registered.)
Also, when we speak about policy changes and laws, they used to cater to those whose life will be affected the most and people who are committed and are in the business long-term. Hence, I feel people should be listening to the full-time drivers whose lives depend on it, and less about some people who are in it to make a few bucks here and there
It's all a part of the evil empire.
That's because the business model is broken. Uber is wasting money investing in things that have nothing to do with ground transportation and is charging way less than what people are willing to pay. (remember taxis? People used to take them.)
Uber is evil. They sacrificed the drivers' pay in order to force growth and to thwart the competition. They really messed it up.
Scam are usually deceitful, manipulative, evasive, taking advantage of loopholes, and stuff like that.
This is brute force.

You know, I have noticed this myself, but I always figured it may not show up until later.
This s a good question, because we do have our ups and downs. Sorta depends on which shift this is. When you've been on the gig for a while, you will know about how much you make for each shift and you have a pretty good expectation. However, the income definitely varies when you drive. Wednesday mid-afternoon? Nope. Saturday late night? Good. That sorta thing.
I do feel this is weird how Uber and Lyft are endorsing these companies and suggesting that we be making money selling stuff.
It’s like they gave up on profiting from rides and jumping to other ventures. ...making us do things outside of our job description.
I have gone 18 riders in a row without being tipped once. That’s my longest streak. Not proud.
All depends on what time you work. If you work late during the wee hours, you are bound to see a few working girls leverage our services. I heard that they utilize taxis so they can hide their tracks (no gps or email evidence), but I later found out they use plenty of Uber.
It doesn’t even matter which night of the week. I regularly see them during certain hours. Let’s say at least twice a week when I drove those hours.
I assume I drive them during the day, but it’s 1000x times easier to identify them at night. Nice looking and freshly dolled up girls traveling alone to random locations at 1am.
